Filmed 1-19-2012 Near Santa Cruz, Southbound

I came across this video on another site and looked to see if it was on ATS but could not find it but sorry if it has already been posted. This is also my first post so I hope I get the video right.

This video was uploaded to facebook via mobile by a Mr Andrew Tuckman yesterday, January 19th 2012, with the following caption. I began filming this after a dozen or so train cars went by on a stretch of track south of Santa Cruz California. Where are the military vehicles going? Why are they being shipped? What could this possibly be for?

This is one of those things that makes me think what the heck! There must be over a hundred new tanks on this train heading down Southern CA. Does anyone know if there are any military bases nearby... I am sure there is but this just makes me think they are getting ready for something.

I know if I came across this in my area I would be freaked out and is playing heavy on my mind. Maybe it is common for this area but I do not know so if anyone has any ideas I am all ears.

i feel sorry for the poor children who get caught up in adult wars with these tanks, the name of this guy who uploaded it on YouTube "911infowarrior" sounds a bit strange to me I'm not American so I really don't understand all the patriotism some guys have over their but to me this just looks too much like a accidental show of military force. Maybe it was design to be uploaded to YouTube to scare Iran and China.

Every single penny riding on that train could have been spent on improving the world instead of defending from fear or killing.

These are Bradleys, not tanks. They are missing guns because rail loading them with guns in battery poses a significant chance of damaging them. Even after a decade of war in the desert, all armored vehicles are painted with green camo from the factory. Painting them desert tan is a unit responsibility, if desired. I took 19 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Baghdad in 2008 that were factory green. In an urban, uncontested environment, its pretty worthless to try to camouflage a 72 ton (in the case of Brads, about 30 tons) vehicle. No matter what color you are, you're going to be pretty obvious.

I live on the other side of the bay from Santa Cruz and didn't hear about this. I would have gone to watch, since I'm a tanker and haven't seen an armored vehicle in almost two years.

As to why they were there, the National Training Center is in southern California. Almost all US Army units go there prior to deployment to certify. It is one of the largest military training reservations in the world. Units treat it as a "practice deployment" and generally rail load all of their equipment there for their rotation.

The video looks like a Brigade size element (the lowest deployable eschelon). There are two major commands that utilize armored vehicles directly north of the National Training Center, at Ft Lewis WA and Ft Wainwright AK. I don't know the units, but given Army heraldry they are composed of 6 to 8 Brigades. They would travel the length on CA to get to their training site.

I can say with 99% certanty that this video is of a brigade at one of these two posts cycling to NTC to certify prior to deployment.

It looks like the tanks are headed to a more strategic point. It would appear that a great war is ahead. What good are tanks if they are not in a strategic location.
