Just hoping that anyone in the path of this storm has a safe secure place to go,keeping a radio or tv on to see where this is going on.

At any rate ,here is the reason for it all.

The jet stream is dipping lower that usual and when it does, the cold air from the north collides with the warm, moist air coming up from the gulf.
This,my friends, doesn't usually happen until the spring.

Good-night, ya'll. Stay safe.

Gonna rest a while. With my gear at my feet (have my shoes on) & my flashlight by my side.

Thanks for the thread!

Just talked with someone on the phone in Bartlett, Tn. Their power was out.

Like I said earlier, the night here behind the front is crispy clear with the sky full of stars.

The only strange thing is the sky keeps lighting up like there is a massive fireworks display just over the horizon, no thunder.

That would be lightening being reflected back from a distant storm.

Yep...Bartlet is 5 mins from me...news reporting that they are without power and have pea sized hail falling.

As for the inner city area of Memphis, the rain has subsided (for now), but electricity keeps blinking on and off.

Can't really tell if its going more eastward or more coming...

Thanks all!

Spread the word to those you know in the affected areas.

It will be hitting us about midnight tonight.

Just last week we got hit with 5 small, but still damaging tornadoes.

This is winter,not spring.

I'm starting get worried that this upcoming tornado season could be the worst we see yet!

I thought you were in South Carolina? I'm confused, could be wrong, is it heading here?

Sorry for the confusion.
I was born and raised in South Carolina, lived in Iowa from 13 till 19 years of age.
Moved back to SC for 8 years and currently live in Kentucky.

Depends on were you live.

For those in Shelby County (east of the mississippi), a new tornado warning has just been issued 2 mins ago...so the rain and lightning we got earlier was not even the new storms/tornados...those have not crossed the river yet

The good thing is these massive cells seem to be weakening as they move further east.

Lets just hope that keeps up, but there is still some dangerous looking cells still moving through.
