I'm sorry but maybe I missed something. What is with this painting? You painted it yourself and now you look to find something symbolical that you put in there yourself?

I wasn't thinking symbolically when I painted it. Not at first. I painted it, and then stepped back and took a good hard look at it, and I wondered where it came from.

I attempted to put a vision on canvas.
It was like scrying, where you stare into a bowl of water and allow things to come, and paint them as they do where you see them, and that was the end result.

It is no big deal, but to me, the images mean something on multiple levels.
So to me, that is a big deal even though it is not.
It was a metaphysical journey I took into my subconscious using acrylic paint.
And it was strange, so I shared it

Let me ask you, have you ever been to greece?

No, never.

The only time I have been out of the US was once driving through Canada to New York.

The tree is alone and desolate in an environment that otherwise appears to be thriving. It has died. If that is water in front of it, then it has drowned. It's world is not suitable for sustaining it's life. Something else.......
I don't think it really cares. Odd, I know, but I don't think it suffers. It just is.

I really like the painting very much.

ETA: I just read a post that mentioned Van Gogh, and I remember that song about him:

"This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you".

Just a thought.

I have to ask, in the painting are you the tree?

I wanted to add one additional thought..I also see the all the elements in your painting..with the exception of Metal...why is this important? It tells me a lot about the artist, I would wager you are very well rounded person, grounded and you don't travel with the herd..also that you don't like violence..even though their is an element of violence in your painting..you are out in front of it...as the lone and barren tree. Cheers Coco

I can't find the exact pic i was looking for.

anyways, your painting reminds me of the Mount Athos in greece. Where all the monasteries are and only men are allowed to go there.

Different angles

And this is a part of the puzzle. The mountain is generic enough to fit many places, triggering an "I've seen that before" feeling...almost like...
deja vue.

But IF it is something, then it is something you maybe saw in your dreams etc. I wouldn't go down the "one tree stands for loneliness blabla" lane..

When you look at the rest of the painting, that could apply in a strange way...
I should probably upload a complete picture.

Ok, here is what the entire painting looks like so far. (Be kind cause it IS different and needs to be cleaned up a lot yet, and like I said, unfinished) lol

I know that some of these are subconscious images for me only...but well...look so far...

I see the brown "Sasquatch-y" figure in the lower left, too. It has four "claws" on its left hand. But what is that little white figure you added above it? It almost appears to be a small person meditating in the lotus position. Just calmly sitting there observing the whole apocalyptic vision playing itself out right behind it.
It's also hard to think that a painting this detailed is only 11" X 14". Your latest version is a very big difference from the original.
The tree also seems to cast an illlumination almost like a fiber optic light. It's reflected on the river stones at its base.
If this is what you've created after not painting for 20 years, you have a great talent. It is a very eerie work, yet compelling on so many visual levels. Keep going until you feel it's "completed". I don't think your instincts will fail you.

I tried to take a better picture of the saquatchy being at the corner, but it kept bluring out, so I will try again after supper and post a close up of that part. THAT corner is part of what started a lot of the painting. The face is a log looking up. When I saw the face, everything started to come into focus with the painting and it became almost a spiritual thing if anyone can understand that. The other face is a piece of wood as well.

I would, yes lol

In a way I would think that is one of the dreams of an artist,
to make something out of nothing.
Being unemployed makes that a very easy question. lol

Here is a closer look at the corner.

It is a very odd face that popped out at me, so I put eyes in it. This was about the point where the painting kind of took a life of it's own. The other face was a piece of drift wood that I thought looked like a dragon head, so I painted it in that way. The eye is actually a tiny snail.

I thought of this mural when I saw your painting. Many similarities. The conflagration is the background. The flower/tree in the foreground. The face you painted even looks similar to the faces on the bottom of this painting. Your alligator and the turtle...

Awesome painting!

I was going to and still plan on putting a raven on the tree. It is one of the final touches. Awesome!!

I'm even more transfixed looking at that white "figure" now. In close-up, it now looks like a "faerie" with darker "wings" sitting in a white lotus.
I'm confused at what other "face" you're referring to? The sasquatch also seems to have developed bearlike "ears" in the close-up you've offered.
This is a wonderful painting. It allows the viewer so many ways of personal interpretation.

Very cool picture with interesting colours and the perspective gives off a dreamy feeling.

I totally get an alien planet vibe from it for some reason.
