Hello again Tom. I ran off and built a new website. Sorry I wasn't around. You just have so much information, and I read everything with great interest. The Ushuaia incidents caught my interest especially. I am looking forward to part 3 about Esteban Echeverria. Hey, talk about coincidence, remember I mentioned May 09, 2012? I just read on another post at ATS that they recently amped up the LHC.

Anytime you spin anything in a circle, including minute particles and energy, you are effecting the world. Every wheel on every car influences things. The faster the spinning the more the influence. I don't know the extent of the coliders influence or whether it is good or bad but I know it has an effect. They will always deny any effect because they are gaining form it's use. Getting paid high wages for something you realy like to do will steer your perceptions away from reality. Right hand law of motion as it applies to energy.

I'm sure they are right when they say they can't destroy the world but it may have an influence on weather patterns.

Splitting atoms, or nuclear fission, is very much different from colliding protons. Firstly because the process of nuclear fission requires atoms. Protons are not atoms, they are one of the particles in the nuclei of atoms (so a much smaller scale than the atomic bomb you and your sarcasm are getting at).

I don't recall saying that anything on a small scale cant be dangerous so your point is redundant. What I am saying is that colliding protons in LHC (which is the largest but not the only particle accelerator, by the way) is not going to cause all these atmospheric effects the paranoia of this thread was perpetuating.

I'm not sold on the black hole idea from the LHC. I'm not a particle physicist so...I really don't know crapola.

I remember all the talk when the LHC was scheduled to go online and it made me think of a movie from the late 80's early 90's. "Frankenstein Unbound" starring Raul Julia and Jonathon Hurt. It is the thinking person's horror story. Jon Hurt gets sucked through a time slip that his experimental weapon caused when it fractured the core of time and space. He gets sucked back in time and meets Victor Frankenstein (Raul Julia).

There is a classic line when the weapon starts to go off and Victor turns to him and asks what is happening and Jon Hurt quietly replies... "Now... meet MY monster".

Awesome movie and it will make you think about modern scientific research in a new way. His weapon broke the world on it's first test...what if?

Spot on! They would be microscopic and would cease to exist almost immediately by evaporating due to Hawking radiation.

There is no such thing as Hawking Radiation. It would take four years before any noticeable effect on our planet if a black hole were created. It would descend into the center of the earth where it would sustain itself on a quark at a time, then particle, then an electron, then an atom followed by mass. At this point strange sounds and weather events would begin to occur followed by a strange glow seemingly coming from the oceans and in the night sky abortive the earth. In short order after that, matter would quickly fall into the hole until the Earth was consumed. To date we have the sounds and strange weather.
