Anonymous, the global-collective hacking group has threatened to hit servers, including Xbox LIVE over the FBI take-down of MegaUpload. Having already taken down websites that include those of the US Department of Justice and Universal Music Group, demands are now being made that if MegaUpload is not restored within 72 hours – The UN, Xbox Live, US Bank, Capital One, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube will be struck down.

Why are they attacking Xbox live, what has that got to do with anything?. IMO its only going to make MS etc agree with SOPA instead of going against it. So i think some people might of been right, and Anonymous are playing right into their hands...

A while back they attacked and brought down several Child Porn sites...
Anon earned much respect from me for that...
But sites of that content still exist...
If Anon wants to better the world and help humanity
They can step up their campaigns against such vile sites
ending misery for millions of our youth...
Instead they chose XBOX?
what a waste of potential...
Anon you have the power

No one in this thread seems to be reading anything online. Why would Anon go against sites like Facebook, Google, and Twitter. Those, and many others, came out in staunch objection to SOPA/PIPA. I do not think that they will actually attack any of these sites. FALSE FLAG.

Xbox keeps alot of kids out of trouble so prepare for increased crime rates if its true (which i doubt).

I was talking with friends of mine about the sopa blackout. While there was a lot of support from the online community including users of sites like facebook and twitter, I know its only a matter of time before everyone forgets about sops and goes about there lives. It's sad but if people don't feel directly affectedby an issue, attention wanes.
But take down facebook and twitter? There will be mobs in every street. Here's to hoping Anonymous brings them down. I'll be interested to see how quickly people wake.

i don't really follow your logic there. Almost equivlant to me saying that if there were no dog fighting sites there would be no more dogs getting fought. Infact probably just as many dogs would be fought, i'd just never be able to see it on the internet. Anon will cause more of an uproar by taking down xbox(f'd up sounding i know, but it was affect more people on personal level) than it did by killing a few pedo sites

I personally don't care for Microsoft, i don't even own an Xbox and certainly don't like anything about SOPA. I was mostly being sarcastic, but now that you mention it, didn't a bunch of hackers get into sony a while back and steal a bunch of CC info and user accounts and such? Yea i work hard for my money and when i spend it on an online game for a monthly fee and some hacker comes along and breaks into the Sony servers and steals my CC info and I'm suppose to support that because i happen to agree with whatever the hacker is protesting? My money is just that, mine, politicians steal enough of it from me already...hands off...edit on 20-1-2012 by roaland because: mis-wording
I agree 100% with both of your comments so i gave you a star for both .
Some of us here are gamers, and don't deserve to have our accounts hacked etc just cos someone is pissed off at someone else...
Yeah it does suck that they are willing to affect so many innocent people in their haste to prove their point. Certainly there are better ways to send a message without disrupting others? Or maybe they feel the message is more important than the temporary disruption caused for the people...which I suppose has historically been true in rare cases. The part I can't quite understand is, if they are all about freedom and fairness then why do they release personal info of so many people. Sometimes a person works for a company in mid management because they have a family they need to support and they have nothing to do with the decision that annoyed the group yet since they work for the target company their info gets released...not fair.

It will force an entire generation of gamers to take a look around and realize "oh nuts, what have we been ignoring for the time i've played synthesized reality.
I'm a gamer, but not a 'crazy ass hours and hours' kind of gamer.
XBL is Microsoft. Microsoft was endorsing SOPA/PIPA were they not?
That's reason enough for Anonymous to go on the offensive.
