rt.com

In response to today’s federal raid on the file sharing service Megaupload, hackers with the online collective Anonymous have broken the websites for the Department of Justice, Universal Music Group, RIAA and Motion Picture Association of America.

“It was in retaliation for Megaupload, as was the concurrent attack on Justice.org,” Anonymous operative Barrett Brown tells RT on Thursday afternoon.

Only hours before the DoJ and Universal sites went down, news broke that Megaupload, a massive file sharing site with a reported 50 million daily users, was taken down by federal agents. Fo

Well they did say "Expect them"

We need to find a way to outlaw RIAA.
They need to go since they won't move to find their cheese in the new world, but insist in making us all go back to live in their old world.

I could have missed something, but this does seem to be the first report on ATS of this. Here's another source:

CNNMoney: Anonymous attacks DOJ site after feds shut down piracy hub Megaupload

The plot thickens...

I have a feeling this is going to get worse before it get's better...or perhaps the "better days" are a thing of the past, been a good run hasn't it?

Is this the beginning of " Cyber World War II "

actually its way past II , its in cyber mode and that is pure remote mode, hence the 92 to 12 cyber posts across the web regarding cyber division and its implication to a/or a nations infrastructure.

In response to the take down of Megaupload. To be honest, I had no idea things would move this fast.

The internet sure does speed things up....

Seriously, that was just a couple hours ago...

It's like the death penalty, killing someone because he killed someone. I appreciate the fact that they go to bat for "us," I just wish they could find a diff tactic then retaliating by doing the same thing theyre supposedly against

without sounding smug or as some cyber trooper, 1minute in the cyber world essentially equals to about 2-3hrs of real life, that's about the rate of speed that targeted and isolated news are and upon what level of gravity response they hold to the individuals that are directly or indirectly associated with. So yes, its all about damage control or damage imposed, its a matter of who is doing what to whom.

Edit:
P.S. One should also factor in the algorithms used by high profiled crawlers within the web as to limit its exposure, but if crawlers are active and the web is infected by unwanted news then its a more complex issue regarding regular news feeds or posts that are unwanted by individuals who would prefer to limit the "said news" within the net.

No false flag here, just retaliation.

They can try and control the internet with their legislation but the internet is too smart, there will be ways around the rules. The US people just have to stop being pushovers and tell the government where to go and how to get there.

It used to be if you didn't like something your government was purposing then you told them not to and the government listened, now they don't care. But, worst of all people don't care that the government doesn't care, they think hey, we can't fight them.

If this passes, it is only the peoples fault. Stop being so damn stupid and demand the powers back!

Pred...

ETA: Oh and good on Anon, yes, it might only be a DDOS attack, but it's infinitely more than the people bitching about them do.

I was thinking more along the lines of the reporting. Some people can't even type fast enough to churn out articles covering the story so quick. Let alone get it proofread.

I love the wording here. "piracy hub"? There was a ton of stuff on megaupload that was legit and they always took down files that violated copyright as soon as it was discovered. What exactly could megaupload have done to prevent this? They had 50 million users a day! I guess this is what we're paying the FBI to do these days? Heads up, someone just downloaded an mp3! Nevermind the rampant corruption in our government...someone didn't pay the music and movie mafia their due! And to make things worse, they shut them down with no warning, no trial and no due process.

Your on topic regarding anon is seriously off topic as anon is/was a derivative of what and how it was about a full + decade ago, its only the new age tech geeks who have bought the hook line and sinker fad regarding anon that feel that everything has begun from 11 onwards. Perhaps you should pause and think...when was the first time i actually used torrent via a search engine or api to find what i was searching for ?, that's when you begin to understand the timeline, ( api search engines were a theory now they are part of life, see the difference!). , so no i wont go into when C1 or C2 begun its simply not my problem, that's your problem if your willing to search and inform yourself.
