I am listening to the latest show from Your Infinate Heart Podcast and they are discussing Conspiracy Theory.
Thy bring up some amazing points and I thought maybe some ATSers might enjoy having a listen.

One of the questions they discuss is whether or not it is better to know or to be oblivious to everything.

My answer to that question is that I think it really depends on the individual, if you handle knowing in a negative way then maybe you are better off not knowing. If you know what I mean?

What do you think?

*I put this in the philosophy and metaphysics because this a show where they talk about spirituality. The hosts of the show are professed healers and longtime lightworkers*

Ignorance is bliss but it will leave you stranded when the s*** hits the fan.

Most people never get a chance to take either the blue or the red pill. Consider yourself one of the lucky or unlucky ones for getting offered that option. Ignorance is bliss, I mean really?

Yes and getting angry is the problem with knowing. Who wants to be angry all the time? Especially over the things you have no control of. If you can't get passed that anger than you are better off not knowing.

Its always better to know than to be oblivious, referencing to the allegory of the cave, I'd rather be outside, then stuck in the cave.

Thank you for posting that, it sounds interesting and I am going to give it a listen.

I like comming to ATS because I like to watch how human interactions play out on a broad level. We have people from all over the world on here, all ages, all religions, rich people poor people....black and white, and we come together and sometimes we bond, sometimes we argue, we learn and interact on so many levels.....we are a microcosm of the macrocosim, here in our internet bubble......sometimes I feel like god, peeking down through the clouds watching everything unfold, the great human drama is fascinating to me and it is all over ats. Sometimes I am an "active god" and I throw my two cents in, sometimes I play the absent god and observe from a distance....there are so many people here I am blown away by....they always have the most interesting perspectives. I know I can count on a good conversation when certain names pop up on forums, and I am sure everyone has experienced this.

conspiracy theorists are united by certain traits, one important one being our ability to flip the coin and look at the other side. We know the mainstream version, but we seek out other explanations......maybe we are paranoid, maybe untrusting....maybe we are just rebels that do not want to accept the mainstream because we are boat rockers and I am sure many of us come here just because it is down right fun to play the "what if" game......some of us just want to gather information, some want to learn new things, some want to share experiences and many are just seeking a truth that evades them....all amazing and terrifying and brilliant and crazy all at once.

That was a great post! I love the how you compare being on the forum to feeling like a god. But don't get too carried away in your hubris

I mostly agree with what you say about conspiracy theorists but not all of us have the ability to 'look at the other side of the coin' as you say. I am sure you have read topics where people will not back down no matter how many times they are proven wrong or 'possibly wrong' some wont even admit that the other side of said coin exists.

I hope you do listen to the podcast there is so much more that they talk about that would make for a great discussion I just didn't want to give everything away. Plus it really is better to listen for yourself.

Yeah, anytime someone compares themself to god it usually ignites a firestorm on here! I do agree, some people come to ATS with very tightly held beliefs or theories and they refuse to flip the coin, you are right about that.

It is sort of a contradiction in a way....they rail against the mainstream version of events but when someone has a version different from theirs they get defensive...enter the human ego.....I have indeed seen that go down quite often, I try not to do that, I try to not get locked into things too ideologically...but I'm human I got my egocentric moments for sure. Passions flare, tempers boil, secrets are uncovered and lines in the sand are drawn, we make friends, some of us have enemies....it's all really awesome to me but it makes me sad when people go into personal attack mode.

Do you think that sites like this one are serving a purpose to communicate a greater understanding or awareness, that by people hashing out their disagreements in a non physically confrontational way we are making some sort of progression?

I have often thought about how some of these conversations would play out in the real world.....there would be blood loss for sure....but we cannot do that to each other here. And if we are actively reading what other people write, then even if we do not agree with them, their POV is still registered in our minds....so late at night two months later something clicks and maybe we do understand the other persons POV and although we may never admit to it, in some small way we change and grow for the better.......or possibly the worst......let's hope the better.....for me anyways it has been for the better.

Too true my friend!!

I think that sites like this will inspire a progression in those of us who are open to it. Those that refuse to change and grow will not change and grow. I think It depends on each individual's control of their ego. Pride will play a big factor as well. Our lives are of our own making and each of us have the right to change our minds if we allow it. Some people have a hard time letting go of preconceived notions.
