How is it possible for me to have viewed a message when I was not even home or signed on.

Went into mail and inbox this morning just now and saw that a message in my inbox was viewed already.

Can any of you mods tell me how this is possible.

I don't even know my password I have it preloaded in norton in my identity safe login.

No one uses this computer except me and my wife and she doesn't evern use this.

I open the messae real quick.

But can you please explain to me how and who open this message.. You must be able to know right.

Hmmmmmmmm

I agree with above poster, but before they delete this thread, I noticed a trend with people having problems with security and their yahoo email accounts, I.E. mail being opened, deleted, ect...Yahoo's new terms of service gives them permission to scan emails for key words, I wouldn't put it past them

Happens to me all the time, and the 'cause' seems to be any number of reasons.

One 'cause/reason' that I have found is if the person who sent you the message has checked their 'outbox' to see if you've opened it yet. If they view it in their outbox then it will also show as read in the recipients inbox.

Hope this helps.

If the person who sent the message to you went into their own outbox and viewed the message after sending it, then I believe it won't show up as a new message for you, it will show up as being read already - this has happened to me a few times now.

Here's a little tip for you as well - If you send a PM to another member, me for example, try going into your own inbox. If the message you sent is still bolded they it has not been read, but if it's no longer bolded then that means I have had a chance to read it already.

EDIT: Gah, I'm too slow to post, lol.

Yes like it was viewed already.

That si correct.

All my messages were not read except the one 911 responded to.

Like someone read it already.

I know 100% for certian it was not me as I was not here and noone was home except my pooches. Rocky and Black.

I've merely explained how and why it happens.

If you wish to take the OPs topic and focus of concern here and twist it into some grand scale 'conspiracy', then Please take do so elsewhere.

Thank you

Well, this is a conspiracy site, after all.

But yeah, there are reasonable bounds of sensibility, and this really isn't something sinister, just a quirk of the board software.

And if we were to consider all of those a conspiracy, we could fill a dedicated forum with that.

My wife "status-jacked" my Facebook page one night last week!
I never log out, and she noticed, so she posted, "I have a nice butt" as my status, and it became very popular fodder for my friends and female co-workers! I'm happy to say many of them agreed.

Yes, the OUTBOX is a strange and wondrous thing. I've learned to use it, and I like being able to see if someone has read my message or not, but I've learned to resist the temptation to click on the highlighted messages there!

I wonder, does the message appear "read" if the sender does not open the sent message in the outbox, but does delete it? I have a clutter aversion and I tend to delete messages without waiting for them to be read.
