Transformer blew. Almost bet ya.

I think it was either a transformer blowing up, or it was aliens. Using Occam's Razor, I'll say it was aliens.

I am calling BS...the OP won't walk across the street and ask what might have happened?
Interesting that the Fire Department is right across the street...(blue flashing lights on a fire truck...) and the OP sees blue flashes...hmmm....yeppers...I am not buying this one!
This may be slightly off topic but the OP started the subject of the train horn so hopefully I can talk about this.

I'll second the creepy train thing! Lol! This morning at about 7am central time the train just would not shut up! It woke us up. We have trains pass through town frequently and sometimes they stop, but this morning it just kept blowing it's damn horn for, like, 15 solid minutes. The sound was stationary, so we knew it had stopped somewhere. I was like "Wtf is wrong with this train conductor?! Why the hell does he keep blowing the whistle when he's been parked for 15 minutes?!" Don't know if it's significant in any way, but it was very unusual for us.
I have to admit, I do find it a little strange that the OP's first order of business wasn't going to the FD across the street to find out what the incident was.

^will do. actually i hate that i have to leave OR, but my dad needs me on his farm. I'm the only one in the family he can trust. His crazy wife and in-laws are causing him all kinds of grief.
Be well. (I notice there are several oregonians on this thread... is it because we think differently? or is it because of the concentration of techies/nerds?)
