It's time to demand answers about these "strange sounds"

I still haven't ruled out Viral marketing. As many have posted it's easy to take almost any sort of video and add an audio track to it. I simply think we need more "evidence" and more eye-witnesses to rule out Viral marketing at this point.

As stated before, I'm an ear witness to the rumbling sound, but not this new "cry" thing..

I live in the UK, and have had an 'ear out' for any sort of noises. Started listening for rumbles last year when all the videos were first on youtube, but because I live near Luton and Heathrow (and on an RAF base) it's quite hard to distinguish what's an aircraft and what isn't. There have been one or two instances in the early morning (walking back from pub or friends house) and hearing a rumble, but again could have been aircraft. But this new sound, a sort of 'cry' to me sounds like the SFX used for the alien contraptions from War of the Worlds? Of course there have been accounts and videos for hearing these sounds, but to be it seems a bit spurious. I'll believe it when I hear it I guess

Many people are complaining of ringing in their ears!!

Now is it possible that these symptoms are tying in with the frequencies?

Maybe some are picking up higher frequencies via this ringing.

I've had some pressure going on in my ears for some time, but that could be from living in the mountains.

I haven't had chance to go through the entire thread yet, but has it been mentioned that in the Florida example, there was a launch at Cape Canaveral on the 12th of March 2011.

I'm just guessing really, I have no idea. Until I hear it in person, I doubt i'll ever know.

ok, so I have actually read every person's thought(s) on this entire thread, I took breaks inbetween thoughts that made me want to think. I see a form of degrading now, how quickly we pull apart and argue/debate with out proof. Innocent till proven guilty, nothing real till proven not hoaxed, all real till proven a hoax, you did hear the sound, you are blessed, we did not hear, so we are not "chosen"...ok, ok, I gotta say, for convictions sake, by golly, we will defend..what? What are you defending? You heard a noise? OK< you heard a noise. No body should be calling anyone a liar. All I am saying is pay attention to things going on in this videos, get your ears geared up to listen to back noises, pay attention to how the recorder is never held out a window, the people are calm, etc. Some sounds I believe are real, but we have adifferent kind of issue arising now, see?
We are splitting, again. We are picking sides for nonsense, really.
Why not a different approach? One thread that shows real proof of real or real proof of debunked, and guess what, no IMO's allowed. Can we do it?

well I haven't heard any weird noises where I live or heard of any happening in Australia. That doesn't have anything to do with a media black-out, how can it be reported if it isn't happening?

I'd never paid much attention to these 'noise' threads before, mainly because I though they were all to do with 'the hum,' however after watching the vids on this thread I'm actually quite shocked by what I've been missing out on!

The reason I've replied to this post in particular is because the first link mentions a mysterious noise that was believed to be a sonic boom, but apparently couldn't have been as it wouldn't have been heard so far away.

Well, it just so happens that the same thing has occurred in my area not 5 hours ago....

I personally didn't hear the noise, but friends on facebook have said that it was loud enough to let them think one of the oil refineries had blown up (this was proven to not be the case.)

I'm just trying to get people to let me know who heard it so I can get an idea of the size of the affected area

I’m really trying to articulate what I experienced; it’s not easy because I’ve never had an experience like this before.

This was my original post on Page 10 of this thread:

I’d like to expand on this. It wasn’t until I got to the very last clip in the video that I suddenly recognized that I had heard that sound before.

But the experience of the sound is difficult to describe; the sound is difficult to describe because it’s a complex, multi-layered mechanical sound. I had no doubts that the sound was being made by a machine or machines. It may sound like an animal cry to some, but to me the sound is made by mechanical forces.

I have lived in this house for nearly 20 years and have never heard this until two weeks ago.

This did not happen at night. I was sleeping late and it was around 10 to 11 am on a weekday morning. The sound woke me up and my reaction was a “wtf” – I didn’t know what to make of it.

In the first nanosecond of consciousness, I thought there was a helicopter hovering dangerously close to my house. Then I almost instantly dismissed this because it did not have the chop-chop sound of copter blades. Then I thought there’s a jet about to crash into my house, but almost instantly dismissed this because the sound was stationary. Then my brain jumped to construction machinery, even though I’ve never heard construction noises anything like this before. I thought they must be doing something very strange with very unusual equipment.

The noise was overpowering. The sound made the whole house vibrate with a high-frequency hum – as if the house was humming, if that makes any sense to you.

I knew this was NOT an earthquake. I have been in small earthquakes and this was not like that. Nothing on the shelves shook as in an earthquake.

I’m trying to understand my illogical reaction to the noise. The noise was frightening because it was so penetrating & loud – the sound went straight thru me.

I blame it on my fatigue, but it may be some protective mechanism in the psyche that kicked in. Maybe it was simple cowardice. I went into denial about how strange this sound was. I dismissed it as some new, strange construction sounds that I had never heard before. I was determined to go back to sleep. I did not feel that my physical body was in imminent danger of extinction despite the frightening nature of the sound.

If I had heard this sound when I was fully awake, I would have gone outside and looked skyward for the source.

When I woke up a few hours later, the sound was gone. I am not close to any of my neighbors and besides most of them would have been at work or school when this happened. Strangely, I completely forgot about this sound incident until I watched the Kiev video.

I really do NOT want to hear that sound again firsthand.

After 3 years of lurking the boards, this finally piqued my interest enough to sign up and comment...

I'm currently studying audio engineering at university and have 5 years experience in using software synthesisers for the purpose of digital audio/sound design while writing music and I have a huge interest in sound design for film.

The original Russian video (and subsequent similar ones) Immediately brings to mind a freeware program named "Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch". It's an application that will take an audio file and stretch it out to produce some quite spectacular and ethereal results from very simple sources - and it's "sound", which has a "washed out reverb" quality to it, is incredibly recognisable if you use it regularly - just like I can imagine a mechanic could tell a certain type of engine by listening, etc...

(if anyone remembers a Youtube video that was doing the rounds entitled "Justin Beiber slowed down 800X" from a year or so ago; that was how it was done)

In fact, when listening again, it sounds remarkably like the initial sample these videos used, could possibly be the T-Rex roar from the Jurassic Park films! ...All fairly simple stuff to pull off if you inclined to do so, but really works quite nicely in the concept of a low quality recording on YouTube to get the imagination going.

...I do believe I've heard the low frequency noises people have mentioned in other threads though,so take the above information as coming from someone who's genuinely curious about these sounds and doesn't want to get sidetracked by possible hoaxes as opposed to a cold, hard skeptic.

And that incinerator in vid is micro compared to what these types o places use not to mention probably use more than one

trust me its deafening from even a mile away and sounds similar to some of the old vids.
Sounds like a jet passing very low overhead but it never does and the sound just continues and just dissipates
And i only heard this one time to this extent in the 13 years ive been here its not common

Just asked someone they use High Pressure steam to clean smoke stack and doesn't necessarily need to be a waist management.
Anyways here is sound and from a mile passing threw air can sound exactly like a jet hovering over your house for long period and its loud as hell this sound would travel miles especially at night and can explain some of the older videos

I agree with you, nitro67. The "Red State" sound does not sound like what I heard. It doesn't sound like what's in the Kiev video either. People do not understand how penetrating this sound is -- it's really loud.
