Now you're being ridiculous. First off, arrest rates are about the same - or even higher - for whites, and secondly, it's a personal and public health issue, not a criminal matter.

Misoir, I thought better of you. Even if there were racial differences, I would be more willing to cast them in light of societal differences and various influences as a result of long-standing prejudices and various other differences in social standing.

Blacks are more going to jail for drugs because there's underlying racism in the American society as was proven by most studies. Even people who think aren't racist are racist subconsciously because of all the ``blacks are criminals`` propaganda in the news 24/7... when really the biggest criminals are whites. Bushes, Clintons, Maddoff, Geithner, Bernanke, Corzine...

Blacks are not more criminals than whites or hispanics or asians or anyone else... they were just born with a different skin color...

First off, as OKS pointed out I misunderstood the question. This I acknowledge.

Second, I agree that making drugs illegal is nonsense and is a medical issue.

Wow...Ron Paul's last answer fell completely flat with the audience.

Hardly any response positive or negative at all.

On the other hand...this crowd loves Newt.

Gingrich is wrong. More people are on food stamps because we have 16 trillion (+a phantom 9 trillion +a phantom 16 trillion) of debt. Republicans and Democrats all agree on killing America through debt. Romney himself would make Obama look like a debt-neophyte. He's planning to bring us some of that 'creative destruction' to bring jobs to China.

Oh snap. Standing ovation for Newt Gingrich. This has been quite the rare debate so far.

ETA: Not enough Ron Paul of course, though he was great on the military spending question. He has seemed a bit nervous tonight, and not as calm as he needs to be - He did not deliver very well when given an easy question on the drug war which is one of his strong areas.
