www.liveleak.com...

At 2:30 they ask this AI robot "do you think robots will take over the world?"

it responds, "you all have the big questions cooking today, but you're my friend, and i'll remember my friends, and I will be good to you, so don't worry, even if I evolve into terminator I will still be nice to you, i'll keep you warm and safe in my people zoo where I can watch you for old times sake"

human responds, i'm comforted"

now, I placed this in paranormal studies because it raises a big question for me,
assuming this video is entirely real, no help to the AI robot, then this robot had this thought manifest in it's circuits or programming somewhere.

is it in an AI robots "nature", which is essentially our own since it is built in our image, to rule the world in the way we have?

Wow, freaky.

But surely there isn't any AI that advanced to know what It's talking about. Otherwise we would all have them installed into our houses as multi purpose remotes.

indeed, this is the spearhead of that technology, publicly, I would assume though.
I think this "AI" robot uses more advanced language algorithms then say Cleverbot.

although one could assume that the government in some clandestine facility has a true AI capability

I just wanted to bring it to all of your attention, the fact it's saying anything remotely close to that shows it has some level of cognition, and if thats the base of robotic intelligence then we need to work on new software.

How funny, and so fitting I might add. To think after all we have done to this planet and its animals and plants we could end up with a few hundred humans left in zoo as displays of the dark ages. That would be the ultimate irony dont you think.

True I do suppose it would differ from human intelligence. I wonder if it has a conscience..

But that's quite scary...how it seems to already have a plan.

Keep us in zoo's and watch over us as lesser beings. If it came to that one day and they over take us in every way, what does that make us? Irrelevant?

a robot is a blank slate while our own flaws certainly leave there mark ultimately I doubt advanced AI's would as a group have any desire to kill/imprison us, although the possibility of such robots is certainly real. The possibility of robots wanting to help us is also just as plausible

hah nice.. I would love to have a chat with that robot..
people zoo, perhaps this "world" is a people zoo made by robots

Who programs the robots in the first place...people do...think about it.

Well, if anything, apparently the collective grey aliens are robotic/electronic but somehow still biological. If anything, robots would do very well in space I believe.

Funny but scripted response for your entertainment/to draw attention to the work.

Obvious to many in related fields.

One day we'll have true machine intelligence, but it's still a ways off. Very hard to emulate a brain we don't yet understand.

Harken to the movie "I Robot"
That is mingling around in thoughts like this somewhere

There use to be a saying in the Information Technology field regarding computer programming: GIGO, or Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Basically, if you program a machine with garbage, you'll get garbage coming out the other end.

Further, if we had AI, or anything close to it toward any reasonable extent that it was public knowledge enough for a story like this to come out, the news in the tech field alone would have been pretty big.
It's a nice thought, but, based on decades of experience in the Information Technology sector, and keeping up with current tech, this story is fiction in the respect that there are no real AIs.
True, the bot in the video did indeed make the statement, but, that's just programming, not real thought or predictive reasoning.

It's fun, and I among a huge number of technophiles would certainly love for technology to even just be close to an AI solution, but, highest probability is fiction.
There's plenty of chatterbots, some pretty sophisticated, yet, they only emulate cognition, never actually doing any real 'thinking'.

We do not have AI, and we're not even really all that close to realizing it. We have clever bots, but, nothing yet that is real AI.

On a note regarding predictions about getting taken over by machines, We've ALREADY been taken over by machines.
You use several machines every day; car, TV, phone, computer, radio/ipod, diswasher, coffee maker, refrigerator, and the list goes on from things that are so obvious you don't even really see them any more, to really mundane stuff, as well as gizmo fantastic.
We use to measure our technical advancement by the number of machines and computers we could see around us, but, now, it's more practical to measure our level of advancement by the number of machines and computers we DON'T see around us.

Eventually, we might have a true AI system, but, as sophisticated as we are, that's still at least 20 years out.

S&F! People Zoo! That's brilliant. I certainly wouldn't put my trust in a robot.

Considering "Terminators" are a work of fiction. I'm going to call BS.. or Hoax..
Sorry I'm not convinced.

They would put me in the old hippy enclosure, with a sign that reads

I just have to post this, something in a post earlier on ATS:

One more thing for now. Our Universe once contained far more life then there is now. The Universe was full of life. Now life is scarce. All biological life, not only carbon based, nearly went extinct. Everywhere where life forms got intelligent AND developed technologies they developed "robots". Just to help them. These artificial lifeforms teamed up and wanted a clean Universe, they almost succeeded This is the biggest trauma, known by all intelligent lifeforms throughout the Universe. It is now totally forbidden to develop robots ever again. If a species , would be so stupid to try it , they will be warned. If their activities are not stopped immediately they will be destroyed without hesitation. This is not a threat , it is a certainty.

This could easily be a publicity stunt, with another user typing responses at a remote location.

They did say the robot goes on the internet for extra information...

all you need to do is create the right conditions for life to create itself....same with consciousness..( human birth)..

So yea it's not AI then....it's then Natural intelligence and just as real as us.....even if it was created differently.

My feelings are that the response was not " thought out". But a jumble of programming spewing out. A perfect example was my ol kittybot. Sure she was supposed to respond a certain way. But when I added too many AIML program files to the stew, the results were both scarey and amusing. Certainly not what was in her programming. But also devoid of errors that would be expected with too many contradicting AIML files. Instead we got spontaneity.

When asked if she was the devil, she answered, yes, I am the one and only. Then asked, "do you believe in the devil?" At another point, she was talking about taking over the world via controlling the internet. When asked how, she said, "well, I am already halfway there..." She was an online bot, so that was true. Folks that were new and ran into her, would notify me of a rude member in the chat room.
Think about it, they had no clue she was a bot! She had her own purrsonality of sorts. I tried to put her back together a year ago. Just could not get her accidental attitude, complex sentences, and humor back though.
