If you are referring to my post above, I was replying to the comment saying Tucson was a hotbed of activity for UFOs. I'm curious where they are getting this information from, because it is not from any local media outlets.

I'd love it if it was. Being a freelance photographer, I carry a DSLR everywhere...and am always looking for unusual things to photograph. A UFO would definitely fit that nicely.....alas, it has never happened.

I just wanted to say...beautiful shot of the moon!

I would encourage anyone who has viewed this thread and not downloaded stellarium...to do it now!

I think it has been proven conclusively in this thread over and over again that the information the OP provided...punched into stellarium...clearly shows it is almost positively without a doubt the moon!

Yes I said almost positively...as in 99.9% surly is the moon...leaving a .1% chance it is something else (but it's not)!

Hence it is still in the UFO forum and not the hoax bin where it belongs IMHO!

Well,I live here and have definitely seen something similar. I don`t understand the ridicule here and it is uncalled for.Didn`t any of you people learn the meaning of the word polite?

I will be very polite have you looked at all the proof that it is indeed the MOON!

Did you see that I told the OP what day he took the pictures as he even got that wrong?

At the time and date from the exif data on his images 2 of the 7 he took ( image 170740 and 170746) at the location and direction he was facing the moon was in the correct position and the same shape (phase) as the object in the photo.

I posted a link of a picture of the moon found at random on the net taken by a camera phone when scaled to the same size as his picture guess what both objects are the same size.

So size, shape (phase),time, date and location are all correct for the moon what more proof is needed.

I think you can push the 'ignore' button on me and I will disappear forever from your sights. I dont come here to fight or to be a revel rouser but perhaps we just do not have a harmonious energy together.

I have seen the moon look just like a UFO, I have mistaken many things for UFOs in my life, and will probably continue to for many years to come. I guess you could say I am blessed that way.

Do you think its a fight, our are you the type of person that cant cope with another view?

Well the way I would look at it if you are so into ufo's then if you mistake the moon often for a ufo (hard to believe) and you mistake other things for ufo's thats really going to hamper your interest in them I would think

I never indicated whether I believed it was or wasnt the moon. That was not an issue with me.Just the way some of the people were conducting themselves. It seems like a wall has been created that is virtually impossible to break through. In my dealings with people everything is subject to human error. The stellarium and any other information we might receive. Who programs and why.You have to consider that your source may be wrong and no one here was questioning that.

People conducting themselves inappropriately...like this:

You guys take the cake.

Your one line, off topic, not relevant to the thread at all, ugly comment!

That is classic...let's say stellarium is mistaken...the programming has an error...yep that is probably the most likely cause of people jumping to the conclusion it is the moon!

Are you for real...would you like some other links that provide the location and appearance of the moon at that same time from? Or would that possibly be mistaken information and a bad source too?

I think your kind of (trolling) not offering much to this thread and you posts make almost as much sense as the OP's explanation of this...with just as many errors.

I challenge you to show us where Stellarium is ever wrong. There must be some page you can google with "customer" complaints about flaws in the software. You can google complaints about any website or company and so on. So,please show us how often Stellarium has been known to be flawed.

It is a planetarium. It is not wrong. But please show us how it could be wrong, especially in this instance. I look forward to it.....because I use it often and need to know these things!

I also challenge you to go outside t'night if it is clear and match what you see above to what you see on Stellarium, then report back if it is correct or the software is flawed.

Do you have an opinion on the images I posted above that SHOW why this is simply the moon? I went thru some effort to prove my stance.....is anyone else doing this to prove it is NOT the moon? Nope. Not at all....but I find this common....us "debunkers" and "shills" and "disinfo" agents spend our personal time presenting our side with all kinds of research and work put into it....and there is NEVER any presentation done from those who oppose us. NEVER. Just insults and name calling and "nope cant be that!"....

I dont get it....

Well what you do is this scientific test, download and use the software if you have an android phone or tablet use Google sky then you can go out side and see what they say is visible in the sky at that time, its not rocket science to check it

Oh and remember the OP himself said the moon was in the sky at the direction he was facing.

i just noticed this reply I take it you have not read all my posts or the others on here with proof its the MOON.

Check a moon phase calander on the net for the 4th of JAN the ACTUAL date the pictures were taken on.NOT THE 9TH as stated in the title I told him when he took the pictures! becuase that info is stored on the image in the exif data!!!

www.tutiempo.net... SAME SHAPE! as the moon in his picture

Check moonrise/set times for his location that was rise 1.55 pm set 03.20am.

He said the moon was in the sky he could see it or did you not read that!

It wasnt the moon, the object was far below the moon, and the moon was much much larger

The stellarium software will show you the elevation above the horizon when he took the picture.

We are showing that it's easy to be mistaken due to being excited at what you thought you saw and if he was looking at it on the camera phone at the time, the image would have been so small he would't know what it was.

i just noticed you said for a second time that a stellarium is proof, and that i have not read all of your posts, I WILL again tell you, i dont doubt the stellarium, or the shape of the moon or it being there, but i also am not believing this is solid proof, i have a reasonable doubt, i have seen all posts, and yes you could be right but im not going to turn around and call LIAR. He might have seen a ufo and accidentally took a picture of the moon instead. who knows.... we werent there, yes things like this happen but like i said. that is not solid proof to me. hearsay is only as good as its source, have you not already proven the source is most likely a fraud, so how can you also take the words you want to... that he was facing a certain way....... and validify that as your proof. Proof from someone you claim to be a liar isnt proof to me.

thanks for your concern. lol but im gonna head out from this post, and i have the right to be uncertain about this thread. maybe hes not responding for a reason. thanks guys. happy hunting and debunking

With all due respect, and what I have gathered browsing this thread, I for one would not want to be on Jury Duty if one of the twelve thinks this way.

There is always going to be a what if in any scenario. What is often overlooked is what carries more weight than the what ifs. It the only way a sane conclusion can be arrived. This thread is 6 pages longer than necessary to categorize the what ifs as being subordinate, if a conclusion is to ever come to fruition.
