Really children, the old saying is true: They simply don't make them like they used to. The game designers of yore did a lot more with a lot less.
Just look at Soldner.
So, I was thinking...why don't they simply liscence a few of the older, out of circulation games and remake them, identical to a tea? Same maps,
enemies, weapons, but just make it more presentable. Refine the music without changing it, and update teh graphics. It would be a renaissance. C'mon,
who hasn't played Chrono Trigger and wished they would move it onto PC and throw it onto a better engine? Or maybe update the BG games, finish up
all those half quests and throw in more dialogue?
For now, I'd settle for just three games. I'd throw Chrono trigger onto the newst Final fantasy engine, and copy it detail for detail, from the
great music to the maps and enemies. Just a graphical and sound update, basically.
Then, I'd put System Shocks 1 and 2 onto the Deus Ex 2 engine, and again copy it exactly. No need for change there, except graphically. gameplay's
excellent, and the sound is better than some games today.
Finally, I'd want a new engine for teh BG series. I'd want them to tie up all those loose ends, like what happened to Xan and the others as well as
a few half-finished plots. That, and more inter-party dialogue. Never enough inter party dialogue. What do you people think?
