The Sound (First Take)

Ok so first off, I made a mistake on the date. I said the ninth and it was the eleventh. Second, You may have to turn up your speakers quite a bit, I did the best I could of focusing in on the sound at parts but... you know, I had to talk and stuff too. I would like to say that I did not edit the audio at all, only I did have to convert it from AAC to MP3. I kept the original format on my hard drive though...

I recorded this sound and it happens just about every night between midnight and 2 so I decided to record it. I'd say usually it sounds west-ish from my position, which turns out to be a military base (Fort Carson in Colorado). Souns to me like a giant far away vacuum cleaner or generator, I'd love your input and feedback!

I also have a vid (with no real picture in it, but another audio perspective). I will post it sometime later in the day, but fro now I need sleep. I also plan to record the sound a few more times without me talking and stuff, make it longer etc. Suggestions on how to get "better" proof is welcome!

It occurs around the same time every night, you say? If so, I would suspect some piece of man-made machinery that is subject to a schedule. Like a generator.

That is odd....and totally different from what I hear! Good catch! Try to record it over the course of several nights if you can....and I'll try to get CL to analyze it.
ETA.....you have a very sexy voice!
Sorry, I had to say that!

I worked in sawmills among other stuff.....
That has the sound of a chipper machine...
one running under no load conditions....., a vacuum cleaner too runs at this pitch......
I definately think it may be some kind of hydraulic garbage compactor or other equipment due to the regularity of hearing it, but who am i to say?

Also ive heard excavators which sound like that when wound up and running.
The fading could be when they turn the house to dig or drop material out of the bucket...However you should be able to hear beeping of it is ever mobile, and the squeel of the rocks in the tracks occauisonally...(....Check out the throttlrd up hum of a hitachi ex 200 same pitch im thinking....)
Not that its a hoe per se, but it may be some stationary hydraulic or other power plant...anyways it sounds like a Hino diesel.....

Here's the vid. Same time as the sound file, just different quality.

To everyone:

I think definately now that this sound is some sort of generator. Industry and military both lie west of my and it would make sense to say that every night at around the same time they perform some task that requires the use of a generator. However, I do enjoy a good mystery and I technically have no evidence to back it up so I still plan to keep my word and post a clearer audio file and video at some point, perhaps this weekend.

Thanks to all for taking a look anyway, check back in in a few days for more!
