Serious question. Why haven't we returned to the moon?

Well they did go to moon several times. Can anyone give me even a single viable reason that is not scifi why they should have kept going in there? Sending probes is much cheaper, safer and all around better alternative. Just why would anyone need to go to moon anymore?

Haven't you seen the movie 2001? There be monoliths up there!

On a serious note, there are things up there that we can't get here on earth. . . but are abundant on the Moon. Helium 3 for one.

First of all going to the moon was never a waste of money. Without the moon missions NASA would have never contracted to investigate solid state as an alternative to tubes. This is what got us started and it was another NASA contract that got Texas Instruments to investigate integrated circuitry (ic) that lead to the first digital watches and the first hand held calculators. (I had one of the first. The TI electronic slide rule). This is what lead to computers and now even these hand held phones/pads that we all have today. So it was not a wast of money.
As far as not going back. We did go back. We did not land on the moon and then never went back. There was several landings. Apollo 18-20 was canceled due to budgetary concerns. There were officially 6 moon landings. After the Apollo was scraped due to money, NASA emphasis was on the shuttle. The shuttle was a big mistake as it put all the eggs in one basket that could not make it to a high enough orbit to get to the moon again. That is right we had all the missions launched from the shuttle and that just did not have enough thrust to get a man back to the moon. Now that the shuttle is all over, NASA will have multiple choices to use including some new ones coming in. So more or less why did we not go back to the moon ( after 6 times)? It was money for the first part and the fact we only had the shuttle for the second part.

Ive often pondered this question myself.
Imagine if they could go back now with our advanced video technology they could beam back.
It was a fascinating live event that happened in 69. Why wouldnt they want to do that again if not to inspire and unite the people while they enslave us and take away our rights some more?
I don't know if it was faked or not because there is not enough evidence for me to believe either way, but i reckon they could at least put a live cam in lower earth orbit or space because that would be interesting.
The fact that they dont do anything like this is suspicious.

Cause , they Need Another Seven Astronauts

I bet there are a lot of people through out the world would give a dollar to see them do it again. Those 1 dollar donations would add up.

Never Actually Solved Anything.

To beat Russia? We have robots going to other planets and what not, but what gives? Curiosity has gotten the best of me and I've researched this question, but just thought I'd make it into a discussion
thanks.

MONEY, the USA had Apollo 11,12,14,15,16,17 land in a short period of time no doubt at sometime in the future they/we will go back but under the current climate MONEY is the problem!

Well as for the IDIOTS that still think they didn't go there is plenty of evidence to say they did!

Going to the moon was never about money, Apollo was always a propaganda program, duh! JFK set the target. The military industrial complex found a solution. LBJ set everything in motion. Nixon was the president for A11, A12, A14, A15, A16, A17 lunar landings and ALL of these landings occurred during his first term in office.

Because "we" didn't go. Some astronauts in the employ of the NA Space agency did. If my neighbors went on holidays to Acapulco and I didn't, do I ask: "why haven't I returned to Acapulco?

This "We" business is the most fundamental mind control there is. Please don't be fooled by it.

It is a serious question and one that is continually asked and sadly the true reasons, whatever they may be are forever being diluted and obscured by the mountains upon mountains of absolute horse excrement mixed with anecdotes and false info.

End result is nobody really knows for sure what the hell really happened up there during the Apollo missions.

Too many things do not make sense, and one glaring fact in particular, the deliberate avoidance of manned lunar missions since the mid 70's.

I believe and as I was told by a friend that what there is is a colony of humans with technology more advanced that origionated from ancient egyptian or mayan cultures of ancient earth. and that the ships they used to land there were studied and documented plus contact made with the colony, who had evolved to exist on the moon having origionally been of earthly origin.

Personally I dont believe a word of it. I do wonder though.

I dont think anyone in their right mind would say NASA arent hiding anything !

Something smells funny, and has done for a very long time.

Haven't you seen Apollo 18??

I wouldn't bother, it weren't all that.

The government say it's because of a lack of funding, but when have the government ever spoken the truth?????

Here's some numbers why mining is ludicrous, and kids today just can't seem to wrap their heads around costs as an acceptable answer. One which I still can't understand.

Total mass of Apollo 15-17 at launch, 6,698,700 lb
Mass to reach earth orbit, ....................260,000 lb
Mass to reach lunar orbit, ....................103,570 lb
Mass to reach lunar surface, .................36,724 lb
Mass at return earth touchdown, ............10,000 lb
Largest returned cargo mass (moon rocks) 244 lb (largest haul Apollo 17)

That has to be some valuable cargo to offset a return of investment. What's that valuable on the moon?

We were warned off the moon according to Jim Marrs The Alien Agenda. It was reported there were alien ships much bigger than ours -and the aliens told us to stay off the moon or face destruction.

Who rule the Moon?

A shortage of water? this planet has a 70% coverage of water, where is the shortage? Oh, fresh water, yes, but there are desalination plants in operation and being built world wide, Arabia, Australia, to name two places.
The Apollo cancellations was to save money for the next big war.

As there is evidence to prove they didn't.

As for your "idiots" quote, you ARE aware you are on a conspiracy website. . .right? Look in the mirror. I'm sure some of your beliefs could be considered idiotic. . . yet I dare say nobody has called you an idiot.

Until now, there was no reason to go back, as we had proven ourselves to be top dog in the space race. But water is getting scarce on Earth now, and there are signs of millions of gallons of water on the moon. We may go back for that, but otherwise, it's pointless.

Destination: Mars!

Huh??
Explain please how retrieving water from the moon would be more cost effective than De-salination??

Futhermore, money WAS NOT an issue in the 80's, or 90's. Minus a recession or two. . .but nothing like what we are experiencing now. They could have went back over the past 25 years, yet haven't.

Maybe you heard of the Space Shuttle program.

Yet nobody has crunched any numbers to show what kind of return of investment of anything going to the moon generates, whereas launching satellites into earth orbit is a profit generating industry. So all we have here is soapbox snake oil salesmen and women.

I may be wrong on this but i thought most of the cost of the getting astronauts up to the moon is actually taken up by basically keeping them alive (tech required for this), In todays age, why do we need manned missions? Surely we have (or almost have have) the tech for unmanned mining operations? In theory, we could have solar powered craft bringing loads back to parachute back to earth!
