Anyone hear if there are any tsunami alerts for the surrounding areas?

I hope this isn't a prelude to something worse.

And a thread about strange rumblings in Knoxville. Also a full moon. Gravitational pull on the tides theory rides again. Notice how the full moon was at it's apex when the EQ struck. Not saying EQs happen everytime there's a full moon at it's APEX, just saying it seems more likely then.

The area is lucky. But I feel that there is more to come in the next several days. I look at RSOE several times a day. There seems to be a uptick in earthquakes again.

Excellent catch. You had this info up before USGS did. Hopefully there will no loss of life.

It always makes me nervous when there is this large of a quake in the vicinity of a large caldera. Stay asleep Toba!!!

Thanks. I found out that USGS is a joke. I get better info from RSOE site. I work in the research field and it has everything that happens that affects an area, from earthquakes to disease outbreaks.

Could it be the Ecuador one got downgraded and taken off the map?

I'm looking and can't find any news on the quake you mentioned.

The reason I ask if it was downgraded because many times I have seen a 5 or higher pop up just to get downgraded and taken off the map.

I hope this has nothing to do with the volcanic activity in the Indonesian area. The other day I saw a thread about a bunch of volcanoes that were showing signs of activity.

ETA:

I stand corrected, I checked the other map and South America is showing some very recent activity too. Sorry about that.
