From: Herbert Marlowe (10 min ago)

Hi,

As you can imagine, I've received many new e-mails. Sorry again for this blanket answer.

I didn't want my personal e-mail address posted on Youtube, so I put up a new one I created from my initials. This has nothing to do with any marketing company, or competition.

I digitized the original footage - from U-matic, - and added subtitles to it. A French friend of mine did the translation. I didn't make any cuts to the material. What you see is everything that was on the tape.

From what the guy was saying, I guessed the shooting year and I added "1980" in the frame corner.

I was really disturbed when I first saw this footage. I posted it on YouTube in the hopes of learning more about the man claiming to be the psychic. I didn't expect to have so many angry reactions.

I don't know who this guy is or was. I'm very anxious to know more. It's important to me, but I'd rather not get into that.

The two leads I found in the posts:

- Someone posted a screenshot on aufeminin.com which supposedly shows the same psychic in the audience of "L'Heure de Verite", a French TV show presented by Francois-Henri de Virieu in the 80's. The person who posted it didn't say which video it was from - it might be a load of Bull... anyway it doesn't give us the identity of the psychic, since he's just in the audience.

- Someone said the man was Albert Florintie but nobody found anything on him.

I've decided to remain anonymous here.

I am not willing to share how I got my hands on the original tape. If you'd rather believe I made it myself, that's fine too - and probably more reassuring.

Personally, I give far more credibility to this video:

www.youtube.com...

2012 will be just like any other year.

I don't believe in psychics.
I don't believe in aliens.

Have a great 2012… and 2013!

Peace,

HM

PS: In answer to the many technical questions: the original footage was on a 3/4" U-matic tape which I digitized to FinalCutPro in HD through a MNR11 noise reducer. I re-EQ'd the soundtrack, added the subtitles and the "1980" in HD on FinalCutPro, exported it in HD and uploaded it to YouTube - that's actually my day job.

The quality of the video itself doesn't make it a hoax, but the picture with the guy in the audience intrigued me so I dedicated the whole day to search for that video.

I have found it, you can watch it here, it's around the 40 minute mark. What I have found, however, is that the picture itself is edited. I'm attaching the one that's been around here and YouTube first:

And now the pics I took from the video I've found:

As you can see, our guy has been photoshopped into the pic. Although, oddly enough, in the very same show I've found another guy that I think looks a little bit more like the supposed psychic:

But regardless, this whole thing screams viral marketing. Now we should find who this guy really is.

Great job finding the video. Star for you. However, wasn't the photoshopped image posted to discredit that the man didn't live in California because he was allegedly on a TV show in France at the same time? So this proves that image was fake to discredit the man for whatever reason. We still don't know for sure who the guy actually is and when this was filmed. Im not saying that I disagree with other people's opinions, but I remain on the fence at the moment.

Yes, exactly, my finding doesn't completely debunk this whole deal because it shows only that the picture was faked, but that picture itself doesn't have a connection to the OP's video (it was posted by a random source, not the original uploader). The only way to debunk it completely would be to find the guy that appears in the video.

wow, thats definitely interesting! could be a ploy for a future movie come out to get people talking, like how they did for disctrict 9 and had all those protest in california aliens vs humans and what not.

can't wait til you guys uncover more info on this.

haha, i am only responding to this one for fun i usually just browse. It could very well be fake but its just funny in here with so many people claiming they are experts

No one here claimed to be an expert, but seeing as America is the world leader in entertainment it's no stretch to find many people with video production backgrounds such as myself. I worked in video production (cameraman & editor) in the 80's and I have direct knowledge of what film or video looks like from that time. It doesn't even look like 3/4" tape or 16mm film which would probably be the highest quality media used for this back then.

I find it hard to believe that the original YouTube poster will not share where it came from so it could be verified one way or the other. They are acting too dodgy to be believed. I think this person is fishing for hits on his Youtube channel.

The person should be invited to ATS so we can review the information and question this person. If it's real they should have no problem. If it's fake, they will dodge questions because they are afraid they will have some consequences to their con.

Excellent, finally an answer!

"HM" definitely goes into quite a bit of detail about the video quality itself... which is supposedly the main "proof" this is a hoax.

What I don't understand is why everyone is assuming it is fake based on the quality of the video? An old tape that was in a tightly sealed storage container is not going to degrade like one that is handled or even sitting open on a shelf for the same amount of time.

I suppose common sense doesn't come into play when fear of the unknown is involved.

Regardless, it's fantastic that this has received so much attention. Thank you, OP.

I'm pretty sure Herbert Marlowe is a fake name. Google has no relevant info on him at all. I have sent an U2U to osneel asking for the mail's header to try to find something more relevant, but in case he doesn't see it in time I ask the same to any of you in case you recieve an email from this guy.

Not an answer, only more questions.

Where did the tape come from?
Why did someone photoshop the man into another video image and post it online?
Why won't the YouTube poster act more forthcoming about this?

I don't think the YouTuber gave us much at all. 3/4" tapes stored in a drawer still degrade and the tapes have pops and artifacts that this video doesn't show. I have a pro video transfer deck (with image stabilization and filtering) and I cannot get my 3/4" tapes to look this clean. He claims not to have edited it, but yet there are these dissolve to white transitions that no one did back then.

I think this person is laughing at all the hits they are getting on YouTube. 30 pages and counting here...the joke is on us.

My original email was:

Hello,

I, like I'm sure many others, am looking for more information on the
video that was posted on Youtube with the French gentleman speaking
his predictions about the future. Do you have a name, where it was
shot, whom it was shot by, and who had the video until you uploaded
it? How did you come by it?

A lot of curious (and worried!) people out there!

Regards,

I can corroborate the email response. I received an identical reply, for whatever that's worth. That 1980 was an estimate and added after the fact (at least according to the response we received) should be sufficient to render the video completely moot as a source of information or research topic in my opinion. Because even if genuine, there's now no way to date it since "1980" was edited in after the fact as an estimate supposedly.

Invite them to post answers in this thread. We have a crack research team here if the person really does want to get to the truth. How can the person be sure that the tape given to them wasn't a joke on them by someone? What is the person's day job? YouTube channel poster or video editor at a video production company?

As some have said on the YouTube video comments, it might just be some viral promotion. I strongly doubt it is real. It's convincing, it's creative, but it's also unlikely and implausible. Then again, I'm not one who believes in psychics. I find it interesting, but I personally doubt a phenomenon exists. Can't say I know for sure, though.

Herbert Marlowe? FFS. That sounds like, and most certainly is, a 20 years old's attempt at an impersonation of a nonchalantly mustache wearing non important, non guilty person ... unfortunately grabbed straight from the subconscious file of 'Angela Lansbury?.. no.. go further back in time its less conspicuous' which just happens to be inhabited by Phillipe Marlowe, - this name has seeped into the walls of the jonre..... and wee weed itself into this guys nom de crap instead.

And he says that he does not believe in aliens in his email? If you check out his channel you can see a comment he has made on a UFO vid, and I quote: "They are coming. And we won't survive it. They are the invaders." Quite mishmashed in all I reckon and reeking of inexperienced young marketers, flying on ego and wondering how to cash any of this fame in for women.

Not that any more 'evidence' is needed here, but I seriously--what a minute--SERIOUSLY doubt that the person who wrote the email was also the alleged video editor. He renders Final Cut Pro as "FinalCutPro" twice.

It could happen I guess, but....

Thanks osneel for working it and sharing.
and oh Yeah: RadioBuzz great work!
