Greek disability groups expressed anger Monday at a government decision to expand a list of state-recognized disability categories to include pedophiles, exhibitionists and kleptomaniacs.

The National Confederation of Disabled People called the action "incomprehensible," and said pedophiles are now awarded a higher government disability pay than some people who have received organ transplants.

The Labor Ministry said categories added to the expanded list _ that also includes pyromaniacs, compulsive gamblers, fetishists and sadomasochists _ were included for purposes of medical assessment and used as a gauge for allocating financial assistance.

Fetishists and sadomasochists are ``disabilities``??? Since when? Everyone has a fetish... some weirder than others, but they are not disabilities...

This is RIDICULOUS... and really SICK in the case of pedophilia being a disability.

Will this finally convince some naysayers that Greece actually put themselves into the position they are in through their rampant mismanagement and socialism? If they insist on carrying down this road they deserve no more bailouts from countries who actually act responsibly (Germany).

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this statement.

It immediately brought to mind the argument made by many/most homosexual men and women....."I was born gay".

Does this mean the paedophile has the same argument?

Great catch S&F. There is a flip to this. Anymore I would say that there is little support for laws against statutory rape. If two 14 year olds have sex, few want to see them go to jail. The question then becomes one of who they are sleeping with. Worldwide we are seeing a disturbing trend involving the sexualization of minors. It is a big problem in Hollywood and people wink when they see young stars in relationships. Here is an article from the L.A, Times that is of interest. I don't watch television except about 24 hours in any given year; but, my children do (all adults) and there was a show about 16 year olds with children and some of them, I am told, became mini-celebrities. While Greece may find it a disease, I fear that in the United States it is quickly losing any stigma. Peace.

Way too sad. Who suffers from pedopfilia in Greece or Iraq or America??? There is only one answer people.

These last few years have been horrific in the kinds of perversions being heralded as normal... Actually, giving them disability would be a good way to get pedophiles into the system and to keep track of them, if you think about it.

I wonder how many will be brave enough to say " I am a pedophile, I need disability."

So, what's to stop them from putting a tag on the file of these people and maybe keeping an eye on these creeps to make sure they don't do anything?


Now, that is not to say that they deserve disability. They don't. I am just wondering about ulterior motives of the state.

Science has allready been trying to prove being gay is some sort of genetic factor determend before birth,

But wanting to perform sexual acts on children is not...I dont care how many child abusing scientist look into it. Is greece on such hard times that it must make deals with the very devil himself?
