I don't mean to be rude, but you should really read up on the history of your country.
Bit of warning....there's quite a few unpleasant chapters.
Do you know how to research history, bud? You do know that Marines are US citizens, right? The funniest part of this debate is that you’re arguing with A US MARINE about how many US MARINES died in Beirut. I might have a little more insight on this subject! Just saying

Regardless the number (because 1 is enough for me), Iran is a provocateur and they brought this upon themselves. You are but a shill….Why? I don’t know.edit on 7-1-2012 by seabag because: (no reason given)

Oh, the bombing of the Marine Barracks in beirut. That is a completely different item than the one you listed. Make sure you study your history before spouting off sport. I wish you had more insight, then you wouldn't mix up an embassy bombing with a marine barracks bombing.
As for the cause of the sanctions, lets see…
• Iran’s bombing of the US embassy in Tehran
• Iran’s bombing of the US embassy and marine barracks in Lebanon
• Irans sponsoring of terrorists
• Irans pursuit on nuclear weapons

Anyone who with half a brain and who isn't trolling knows that Iran is the topic of the thread and is not punctuation.

The more Iran gives the collective middle finger to the “great satan” the closer they come to their own demise.
History will record that Iran sealed its own fate...
And in the end, the west will go down the same route as rome. I love when hypocrites hold their noses up in the air.

I provided plenty of sources. Please read all the posts before you continue with your ignorant posts, chief! Thanks!

Your sources are older than my kids. I have read all of your posts and found them to be more ignorant of the truth than the current batch of noobs on here. If you start reading facts, instead of MSM conjecture you might start to learn something sport.
Edit: Still waiting for your response to the above post.edit on 7-1-2012 by superman2012 because: (no reason given)

Noobs? Looks like my Karma is higher than yours!

I don't care if it's been 300 years. We shouldn't do business with any country that killed hundreds of American citizens when we were not even at war with them. And we damn sure shouldn't allow these terrorists to get WMD.
On July 3, 1988, near the end of the Iran–Iraq War, the U.S. Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes shot down Iranian Airbus A300B2, which was on a scheduled commercial flight in Iranian airspace over the Strait of Hormuz. The attack killed 290 civilians from six nations, including 66 children. USS Vincennes was in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Earnest Will. The United States initially contended that flight 655 was a warplane and then said that it was outside the civilian air corridor and did not respond to radio calls. Both statements were untrue, and the radio calls were made on military frequencies to which the airliner did not have access. According to the Iranian government, the attack was an intentional and unlawful act. Iran refused to accept the idea of mistaken identification, arguing that this constituted gross negligence and recklessness amounting to an international crime, because the aircraft was not on a trajectory that threatened the Vincennes and had not aimed radar at it. The United States has expressed regret for the loss of innocent life but has not apologized to the Iranian government.

Hahaha, I wasn't calling you a noob, but thank you for proving my point that you have no sources that state that anything you had listed was a cause of the sanctions against Iran.edit on 7-1-2012 by superman2012 because: (no reason given)

The long list of U.S. economic and political sanctions against Iran has its root in the 1979 Tehran hostage crisis. On November 14, 1979, President Jimmy Carter declared an emergency and ordered a freeze on all Iranian assets "which are or become subject to the jurisdiction of the United States." Additional sanctions were imposed when, in January 1984, Iran was implicated in the bombing of the U.S. Marine base in Beirut, Lebanon. The United States added Iran to its list of countries that support terrorism (in this case, the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah), banning U.S. foreign aid to Tehran and imposing export controls on dual-use items. Over the next decade, deteriorating relations prompted the United States to ban exports to Iran on a host of products, from airplane and helicopter parts to scuba gear.
