Do you know someone who has a gun?....

If you live in Newark, NJ now you can recieve $1,000 just by making a phonecall

Newark Mayor Cory Booker makes an unusual offer to residents of his city: Turn in anyone who owns or carries a gun illegally and receive a cash reward

I find it interesting that the words "illegal gun" wasn't really mentioned until half way thru the video. This video may be easy for the public to misunderstand, and report EVERY gun, legal or not.....or is that the intent of the video?

Is this just another way of stripping our right to bear arms?

Welcome to the NWO!

"If you see something, say something...and get a treat as your reward"

Watch it folks, it's coming and it's coming for you.

Turn in your neighbor, friends, family and just never think about that nasty 'ol NAZI regime that did the EXACT same thing so many years ago. Except it wasn't money they got for betraying their neighbors, it was food and maybe a pat on the back by their captors.

Used to live in upstate NY, but have been to Newark NJ many times. Newark, *SIGH*!!

I am pro-gun for sure, but I gotta say that NONE of them thugs and gangstas in Newark and the surrounding 'hoods in North Jersey should LEGALLY be able to own a firearm with rap sheets dozens of pages long. They are out of control ANIMALS there...

As for the LAW-ABIDING folks around Newark and North Jersey, they should be allowed to have bazookas and TANKS when going through that HELL-HOLE!!

NO kidding, seriously!!!!!

I don't think this is an attempt to strip away 2nd amendment rights. The state of NJ has already done that. (Jersey resident here)

A quick fact about NJ, permits to carry are next to impossible. So anyone carrying a gun, there is a good chance that that person is breaking the law. A gun owner, who otherwise legally owns the firearm, can not carry it in public. It has to be cased and separate from the ammunition.

Newark, much like other urban centers in the state (Trenton and Camden in particular) are major centers of crime. I like this program. Alot.

Stripping 2nd amendment rights, not so much.
Taking illegal firearms off the street and attempting to reduce violent crime, yes please.

Nothing is anonymous. They'll be watching those banks like a hawk. Not to mention the # of guns is going to increase as they don't even cost $1000. Just plant one on someone for $200 and call it i. Easy money.

Nope...it's time for EVERYONE to have the right to decide if they want guns in their possession.

It's too late for right and wrong now. It's time for people to stand with each other instead of drawing lines amongst themselves. This is exactly what will weaken any chance of survival when the jack boots come to your door.

And when they come you will be glad that your neighbor has that illegal fire arm. He might even help you even tho he is considered a criminal and was denied a gun permit for that half gram of weed he got caught with 20 yrs ago.

Peace

What a perfectly horrible idea. A politician who would sit there and say these things needs to be told his speech ended his political career. Period.

I'm as against illegal guns as anyone. Heck, I DO carry and I am legal...I carry almost entirely due to those who have theirs illegally, and so, pose a threat by merely having it on them. They sure aren't carrying illegally for the heck of it...not given the mandatory minimum's most states have for hard prison time when caught.

Having said that....Enough with the snitch society. Enough with encouraging everyone to be their neighbors keeper and ABSOLUTELY ENOUGH with actually making the snitch route a profitable line of WORK for goodness sakes. What's next? Block captains? Da, Comrade...
If guns are a problem and crime is out of control, look to the police force, the lack of it or the sheer corruption in it. There is something terribly wrong and it isn't solved by turning the population into a bunch of busy body snitches looking pay their bills by having their neighbors arrested.

Can we say UN-AMERICAN?! Now, Soviet Russia would have recognized this whole thing real well.

They are testing these gun buy back programs
and these snitch on a gun owner things
in certain areas before they bring it nation wide.

Here by me every year they have a *guns for kicks*
where if you turn in a gun (no questions asks)
you get a pair of nikes!! How crazy can this crap get?

Anyone who would sell there neighbor down
the tubes for a grand needs to get stitches..
Like the old saying snitches get stitches then put
in ditches..

I am a proud gun owner, actually guns owner. I am not afraid of any situation in my home, and my neighbor would be right here with me. But having been to Newark numerous times, there, my friend, I was afraid. The guns in Newark are not for protection when the 'jackboots' come to the door. They are for crime, intimidation, and personal protection against the other criminals who have the firearms for the same reasons. The 'jackboots' are not my fear.

Umm...What's new about that? There has been rewards offered for information on crimes or for the whereabouts of crime suspects for centuries, if not longer.

The "NWO" has nothing to do with this very old and antiquated idea.

Ever heard of a bounty hunter? They make a living off of those rewards. There is nothing new about it....

You are seriously over reacting as far as this goes. Be fair. There is nothing new about this idea and it is not being used to usher in any kind of NWO.

Now, I personally would not turn in some one just for owning a gun illegally. I consider that none of my business. But it is nothing new to offer a reward for information on crimes.... At all.

I'm sorry but I must dissent!

Have you seen Jersey Shore?
I don't think anyone in that state should own a gun!

There's an excellent series of books written by L. Neil Smith (NOT His Star Wars books). I forget the names of most but one was The Probability Broach. The premise is a split time line where the Jeffersonians won over the Hamiltonians at the start of Our country. In these books, EVERYONE was either carrying or presumed to be. It was amazing how much more polite People were to One anOther.

I recommend reading some of them (I think another was Her Majesty's Secret Service...).

And the first person that tries to collect on that $1000 will be a walking dead man (woman). Anyone that thinks they can do this and get a quick $1000 had better take that money and buy a plane ticket and soon as they cash the check because other people will go after them just a gang member that has been went to the police. This little stunt is going to get very little if any guns off the street but is going to get people killed.

I have to agree with gimme_some_truth on this one. There's a vast difference between turning in someone for owning a gun, and turning in someone for "illegally" owning a gun. I have no problem getting rid of the weapons belonging to gang members and street jackers.
This isn't a move against the second amendment as far as I'm concerned. This is a move against the rise in crime that has been sweeping this nation. If you own your gun legally you have nothing to worry about.
The day they start making people turn in their rightfully owned and legally bought and licensed weapons... that's the day you'll see me up in arms (pun intended) over the matter.

Just for the fun of it everyone should just turn in their neighbors. Keep theme busy checking this out for a while and actually doing their job and stop having the public do it for them.

If they would stop wasting their time making up so many petty bullcrap laws perhaps they could enforce a few of the more important ones on their own.

And for those that turn in these illegal gun toting maniacs just remember how they roll and that is the only good nark is a dead one and they have friends you might want to be thinking on.

I see a number of people dieing under mysterious circumstances when someone home gets busted into and the cops don't find the gun.

A snitch that goes around targeting people that MIGHT have a gun is looking for trouble.

When a snitch gets to active you will always have leaks from the police department.

Sometimes cops will leak information when they know someone is dirty and using the system to protect themselves from getting busted.

I saw one jail house snitch get blasted because he snitched on one cell mate only to get wasted because someone else had snitched on another person in the cell.
The first snitch had testified in a trial and then was targeted for snitching on another cell mate when he did not.

I bet that they said the same thing in Australia and now look at them. No one can own a gun there now. This is how it starts.
