Looks like the DHS is issuing ID"s for the purpose of Voting at no cost to individuals who do not have a valid government ID in Tennessee.

I wonder if this ID card issued by the DHS is the National ID card that has been talked about. What a sure way to roll out this new program and offer the ID free to people in order to Vote. Also I wonder if this program is happening in other areas?

This will also potentially help to curb any voter fraud like we seen in the previous elections...

Any chance you can fix the title to reflect the article? It says 9,500, a part conveniently left off, that changes the entire context of the story.

Please correct it and quit fear mongering - Your own source -

Secondly, this is not the Federal DHS, its the Tennessee Homeland Security Department -

Its done to comply with new voter enacted laws requiring identification to vote. The sites were established to assist people in getting those ID's.

Is it to much to ask for people to read the article first?

How do you fear monger the truth...
I believe thousands does equate to nine 'thousand' five hundred, or am I wrong?

I don't have anything to add, just a question. Nearly 9,000 non-photo Driver's Licenses? I've never heard of a non-photo driver's license. Why would they issue those? And why so many?

I tend to think of "thousands" as anything more than 1,999...
So, in short, you're title is correct....at least in my opinion...

I thought I'd seen something about voter photo ID recently - Justice Dept rejects SC ID law - apparently Obama isn't actually in favour of ID's and chips after all??

Of course the anti-Obama brigade immediately labelled it that Obama wants illegal immigrants to vote - there's always a catch!!

Thats just it.. You arent fearmongering the truth. What you are doing is omitting information in order to change the tone / context of the story in order to fearmonger about the evil DHS issuing photo ID's, which as your own article points out, is not the truth.

You would be wrong on the number omission.

The article states 9,500, which is just that. Thousands can range from 1001 up to 99,999. Also, its not the title of the article, which is intentioanlly leaving out a key piece of info to change the story.

Want me to go on about the use of DHS while not acknowledging its state and not federal?

At the very top of the first page, just above the origional post (OP) on the left, you will see a box that shows flags. In the same area you will see an option to flag it.

The very same argument PRessTV uses - Bravo

quit spinning, be a man, and change the damn title. Its simple, and I will add its not needed to challenge an article. If your point of view is sound, then you can post the article in its entirety while making your argument against it.

Making changes / omissions in order to mislead doesn't support your position.. It undermines it because it says you can't make an argument based on facts. ITs says you must mislead others to do it.

The entire article centers on the State voter Id law and this -

Department encourages Citizens to visit one of the 19 Driver Service Centers opened On First Saturday of January for Voter ID Issuance Only

Thank you

Serious question - Why must we change / mislead / omit information in articles? If you dont agree with the information / laws attached, there is nothing wrong with that. Why go out of your way to attempt to shift context knowing the result?

Why not argue the topic based on ALL available information?

Do you agree with TNs voter Id law?
Do you have issues that the TN government, and not the FEDs, went above by opening up additional locations in order to assist in getting people ID's so they can vote?

True but how many young people do not have valid ID that attend Universities and cannot get a State ID and fall under the guidelines?

•Student ID cards from state universities are NOT acceptable.

Here is a link to a thread I started about this very issue, although it encompasses a much larger group than just students.

DHS is an abomination to the constitution brought to us by republicans and endorsed by both democrats and republicans. Apparently both work for the same boss or both are actually right, as in right wing. Socialism and communis has been next to abolished thanks to fifty years of mcarthy propaganda.

Government keeps getting bigger for all the wrong reasons. It is not to provide safety at all, it is all about growing the military-industrial complex with unlimited funds and to cause as much hysteria/paranoia as possible.

If I were still living in the states I would not even fly anymore considering the x-ray scanners at all major airports and the overzealous TSA agents that will not stop at anything to waste your time and humiliate you. Accepting grossely exaggerated terrorism has become the norm, while new legislation keeps pilling up. All they had to do was use greyhound cannines at the airports, screen the luggage and employ armed marshals. Two of the three were already used including locked cabin doors.

Now we need DHS sponsored photo ids which resemble the national id scheme. I though the USA passport filed that hole up perfectly, in addition to the state ids and/or college ids. All this added redundancy is mind numbing stupid/annoying. It is starting to feel like nazi germany WITHOUT THE SOCIALISM!

Oh lordie, looks like you live in this backwards ass town with me.

It's not going to curb voter fraud. We hack into black boxes and change votes these days. No more need to sign up people who are ineligible and then have them zerg the booths.

The DHS mentioned in this thread is Tennessee Department of Public safety and Homeland Security - Its a State agency with a similar title. This is NOT the Federal DHS and has absolutely nothing to do with them.

The agency in Tennessee operates with the authority of the citizens in Tennessee, and their actions on opening locations and assisting with voter Id cards is also in compliance with the will of the people of the State of Tennessee, who voted and passed their voter ID card legislation.

As far as the comment about Nazi socialism, a bit dramatic and a bit off topic. However you are close with it, if we apply how they told the people what to believe and they just did, hook line and sinker. In Nazi Germany people still tried to get information to fight the propaganda, and died in the process.

Apparently its just easier for you and others these days to just half ass read an article that was misrepresented by the OP on a few levels, and even after it was corrected, you still go down this road. Nazi Germany would be proud of you for not only acting without knowing, but being to lazy to even attempt to find more information.

Bravo... Now, if your offended by the Nazi comparison... I dont care. The point is its about the most childish thing you can do, to constantly pull out the nazi card whenever you want to try and make a point when the stated and known facts are against you.

Do you have any particular issues with the TNDPSHS or their voter id law?
