Why would they be scared to pass it? They just passed the NDAA with Obama signing it on NYE and that enables american citizens to be indefinitely detained without being charged with a crime nor facing trial, and the majority of America didn't blink, those that protest it are mocked. America as a whole has no clue that we are now entering facism. The only way they'll listen is if their favorite celebs say what we need them to hear, that doesn't look like it's going to happen either.

Anyway, I'm glad ATS is taking a stand against SOPA and PIPA.

I hail from the land of Rep. Lamar Smith, the big name behind SOPA. This is a horrible bill. There may be a delay in bringing it up for a vote so that Rep. Smith and his cronies can haul in more campaign cash. But they will pass this out of the House. One can only hope for a filibuster in the Senate and an eventual veto. But I am not holding my breath.

After so many years of running, the site hitting its peek and more people realising the truth. This cant end. I think soon enough we are going to be doing undeground meetings and other events that will be at secret to the world just so we may remain the ones that know. We on ATS are like a brotherhood. Although a brotherhood collapses it may return. This is not going to be an end nor a stop. This might be a step forward or a start to realism that we must unite to spread the wisdom of our knowledge and predictions.

To the site owner. Thank you for creating this website,you will probably not read this reply but I hope you understand my anger towards goverment and other things. I hope this is not the end.

SO told us on this thread yesterday that ATS would be doing the blackouts.

I do notice two things though.

1. The moderators are working overtime! Closing new threads. The waste bin is filling up fast there!

2. The BO page behaves differently for different users. Somebody said their BO page went away after 2 seconds. Mine don't go away until I click the page.

3. By the user screenshots, it appears others get more than the red banner than I do. My BO pages don't scroll with the scroll bar and the red part at top is all I get.

Nevermind, my scroll bar finally figured out how to work. I see the whole BO page now.

I got that on my mobile phone just a few minutes ago and I just about freaked.

First reaction was to blame Bush but then I remembered this is 2012.

This hopey changey thing is really scaring the crap out of me, even more than it did in back in 2008.

SOPA is much worse than most think. Though I feel the potential of hurting any free speech is the worst of it, their is another side to it, that most people just don't see yet.

I don't know when last I had such a fright! (Being met by that 'firewall page' when I clicked on my ATS in my favourites.) Shock from the top shelf.

The feeling of total desolation overpowered my brain and utter loss left a hole in my gut. That followed by ! OMG the world is in serious trouble!

Thanks god my eye fell on the 'what if' and allowed the brain to bypass back to reality.

Can you imagine what devistation such a thing can mean to mankind?

They will be in total control and we will really be in a mushroom state: in the dark and in the sh!t.

In a way FREE speech does need to be shut down. Look at what free speech has done to the millions of children with depression and eating disorders.....

What we need is wisdom to know when to enforce control and when to withdraw it. Like any good parent.

My first thought was "But... but... it hasn't passed yet!" Then I realized it wasn't for real (remembered a post I had read about a black out preparation for ATS) and I calmed down.

Can people from other countries sign the petition? What American government wants to do will affect the entire globe, not just one country! As it is, we can not get certain programming sites like Hulu for example to display in Canada. ...and while Openmedia.ca has their hands full fighting against government proposed internet atrocities, I'm afraid we would be helpless to do anything if government really wanted to pass the bill.

I don't see how the U.S. government can take such measures with property that essentially belongs to the world! The Internet should be 'international waters' so to speak. It's scary to think we're all so helpless?

Sceptic Overlord, perhaps if all else fails you could place ATS on a non-American server and see if they can still shut you down?

Either way you slice it, the American government's decision will affect us all.

As you can clearly see on this list - there IS a CONSPIRACY! It's all the entertainment industry and their buddys. The conspiracy? It's an obvious deathblow to the WWW and they think they can get people back to the boob tube and movie theatres. Furthermore, POWER and CONTROL! They can control what appears on entertainment media; but, they simply don't 'control' the WWW. The entertainment industry's conspiracy to control what YOU think.

Also, can you tell us why we have 95% of the 'firepower' directed at ONLY SOPA and not equally at PIPA?
