Regarding notices from ATS via ATS' private messaging system...

I think ATS could very easy make everyone (even the most picky types) very happy by making just about everything on the site optional. Like for example turning off notifications for new recaps etc

if they wanted .. they could send way more
comparing to my work place .. where a receive at least 50 annoying email per day
i dont find receiving u2u from the ATS admin to be that irritating
sometime i read them sometime i press DEL and its gone in a second
so why bothering about them .. there is stuff in this world way more important
then talking about how some u2u msg are annoying ..

Get a life .. damn ..

Well that's a bit unneccesary.

Personally I don't mind the PM's myself because I like to make sure I catch the recap shows, but that reaction is a little over the top to be honest. If someone doesn't like something then they're going to complain, there's nothing wrong with that, It's just what we do. We all complain about stuff from time to time.. you yourself just now seem to be complaining about the complainers in fact.

Getting angry because someone else finds them to be an annoyance is a bit silly in my opinion. Like I said, I don't mind them but I can at least understand why other people are getting annoyed over them. If they don't follow them or have any interest in them whatsoever then it's surely a pain to get PM after PM about it - If I didn't watch and enjoy the shows I'd be complaining too I imagine, as would most.

But anyway, just throwing out my 2 cents worth.

I do know what you mean though - This is a free site after all and a great service is provided as well. And some people really do go waaay over the top when complaining about stuff they don't like. I'm just saying though, I understand why some people are getting slightly annoyed over the PM's here. If it was something I had no interest in and I was getting PM after PM over it, I'd wish it would stop as well.

I would like to petition the site admin to add an option to opt out of receiving the weekly inbox spam of ATS Recaps. I don't mean to be insulting to the site owner, but it really seems to me that the Recaps are unnecessary and I don't want them shoved in my face when I log in. I have to clear my inbox of the spam all the time. Please stop.

I would also like to add my voice to those who are annoyed with the almost daily ATS Recap PMs.

I am not saying ALL announcement messages should be stopped. There are quite a number that are useful or necessary, and even a couple that I occasionally click (The Survey ones, for example).
BUT.....
I visit the site daily. I personally go through and look at all the threads that I'd be interested in. I don't need an ATS Recap.

And yes, it is just a PM, yes, it can be deleted in 10 seconds.
Yes, this is ATS's site, and their rules, all that, sure. But what has that got to do with anything? It is a hassle to have to do it constantly, and when I get a message about a PM, I usually expect that it is a PM, maybe someone messaging me in response to what I wrote on the forums, or maybe some important relevant announcement. If the majority of users simply click it, open it, and directly click delete, what purpose does it serve? Why not have ATS RECAP up top along with the LIVE, and VIDEOS and TRENDING PAGES thing?

It's not like it is an advertisement or something. It isn't generating ad revenue or anything, so I don't get the responses that are going "Hey, you're part of a free website, just be thankful you are here!". I may almost never click any ads, but my being here provides ATS ad revenue. I am not a guest in this "house". I have an account. I have been visiting almost daily, off and on for almost 8 years now. I am part of the ATS family. I may not be momma or poppa, but I have my say. So does everyone else. These ATS Recap PMs are annoying.

Sure, it is a minor (if constant) hassle, sure, it barely takes out a couple seconds of my day, but why have it, then? I don't understand the weird backlash against people who are pointing out this annoys them. If some stranger came up to you once a day and blew air into your ears when you weren't noticing, and then ran away, and did this every day, it seems a bit bizarre to say "Hey, it is just harmless, hey, it doesn't even take a few seconds of your day, quit being a whiner!"
Why should the only choices be "Hey, live with it, you're on a free website" and "Hey, if you don't like it, you can leave"? Why shouldn't people who have concerns voice them?

Brief post to say that I also find the recap U2U an annoyance. There should be way to opt out of it.

Its not in the same category as changes to T&C etc.

By all means retain the right to mass message, just not with an unwanted recap.

They are starting up again. After this thread started they seemed to slow down, i didn't get one for a week or so. Now they are back at it, sending one every other day it seems. Once a week or month i can understand, but not every other day. Please try to limit the amount you send, because you are spamming us. I know you put a lot of money into the site but there is a point where it becomes annoying and people will use the site less, which is what you don't want to happen when your spending more money...

Could the recap videos announcement be added to the ribbon below? Like when the live shows are on, that way we'd know there's a new video up and people wouldn't complain about the private messages.

I normally don't let little things bother me, but I'm with everyone who is annoyed to some degree by the ATS recap messages. Sure you could just "not look at it" and it's easy to mark them as read or delete them, but do we need a message every time a new episode comes out?

For the sake of argument, business people lose hours and hours of productivity by something as simple as emails taking 0.5 seconds longer to open. 0.5 sec an email. 200 emails a day. 250 days a year. That's almost 7 hrs a year spent waiting on emails to open(using made up figures)
Bit of a stretch but you get the idea, time is money!

Now, back to the t.v......

Edit: also, there is a wolf crier aspect to it. I'm less likely to go look at new messages since I suspect it of being a pointless ats recap reminder instead of something important.

Yeah they annoy me a bit, but not enough that I felt the need to comment. Now that I have read the whole thread, what the hell? This is a discussion forum, and I see people belittling and attacking people for posting their opinion? Grow up, jeez.

The thing that bothers me most now, is when you get a message you pretty much know it's spam from the site. Now you log in the next day and you see 2 messages and an annoying box that is in the middle of the screen telling me i have 2 messages. I know that they are two spam messages.. but have to click the box to remove it from my screen! And honestly, do you really need to send a recap message back to back days?!?!

Just want to add my support for implementing an opt-out system. Is there no way that actual important messages can be separated from the recap messages? I know its small but I find it annoying to see the new message bar popup every other time I log in just to see another one of the recap messages which I have zero interest in. And as others have said, people are more likely to just start ignoring messages, and miss out on actual important information.

Can we get rid of that annoying balloon that pops up and says you have new messages.

Also can we have select box's next to each message with a delete all check items at the bottom?

This is starting to become a real issue for me.

I log in everyday to read what's going on in the world of alternative topics only to find a gazillion private messages to plough through (and delete) before I can browse the boards at my leisure.

If I feel inclined to view the ATS recap video, then I'll view it. Strong-arming people into watching (via the private messaging system) only serves to put peoples backs up.

For God's sake, give us a rest from it.

I think the messages are a pest also. Not that it's the end of the world or anything, and would drive me away. But it is annoying. You have screen caps and links on the Home page, Forum page, and the Recent Post page, which everyone is going to see. Whoever wants to see it is going to see it U2U or not.
