Well, let's see.. every president for the past 50 years has signed a NDAA. He signed one last year, too. I don't think there's ever been a year
that it WASN'T signed.
This particular one that Obama signed is
HR 6523, introduced in 2009, and its
initial sponsor
is Republican Ike Skelton of Missouri If you'll remember, the Republicans have
fought every step of the way for this. (
(final vote is here)
It's not like he woke up one morning and said, "hey, I think I'll make a bill" and just signed it into law.
The "indefinite detention" section seems to have come from the Republicans, with
Democrat Mark Udall trying to block it and Obama and others fighting it. So... not the work of one person who woke up and said "hey, I can do
this."
He signed it reluctantly (it would have passed anyway.)

Yep. That's the guy I'm voting for. You can vote for someone else -- it's a free country and I'm not going to insist you vote for my preferred
candidate.
Nor am I going to attempt to bully or intimidate you into voting for him.
