Lockheed Martin - Maker of all things over budget and under-spec - has revealed their next-gen fighter.... in a calender given to journalists.

LockMart claims that their generation defining features will include:

"greatly increased speed, more range and new features like self-healing structures and multi-spectral stealth"

I wonder if this has been spurred on by the fifth-gen (appearing) air tractors being trotted out by the Ruskies and Chinese at the moment.

Bet it has electrogravitics incorporated like the B2. That would give it greater speed, for sure.

(Speaking of electrogravitics... Check out My thread here www.abovetopsecret.com... if You want to learn more.)

Yeah I think we have seen the last manned fighters. Its bad enough the F-22 was only purchased in such small numbers when the cost would have dropped if they bought more.

This is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. With the state of America as it is and the fact that the raptor is completely unmatched this is just a total waste of taxpayer money. And to think I was watching the Futureweapons episode on the F-22 Raptor today

Maybe they should get the F-35 money pit finished and start delivering them before they start on the next gen fighter since the 35 is way over budget, way behind schedule and not that good, depending on which source you read.

They are...

The next gen fighter is set for 2030.

And the F-35 is set to replace F16's and A-10's

So far, USAF leaders have not been committal about plans for a sixth-generation fighter to replace the F-22 after 2030. The air force is instead focused on buying 1,763 F-35As to replace the F-16 and A-10 fleets.

Oh I know. We've committed to buying a bunch of them to replace our aircraft. They were supposed to be delivered next year(2013) originally. Now it looks like it won't be till 2018 and for a much larger price than our original MOU stated.

They are a money pit and LM just keeps on going with " we need more money and time. Our bright ideas don't work, that'll be an extra couple of billion please per airframe"

Indeed. However, perhaps most of the "money and time" goes more into black ops projects that the public will never find out about. Super secret craft/operations do exist and happen all the time without the knowledge of anyone not cleared of course.

Yep. We have the secret triangles and try to keep the other guys on their toes and off our backs by selling our conventional fighters to other allied countries and allowing some of our plans for those units to sorta slip away. A terrific plan because on the back side it is good for the dwindling aerospace industry and the economy in general.

How can anybody be intensely interested in super aircraft, space planes, etc. and not at some point give serious thought to why the government never developed a replacement for the shuttle? Why would we leave our ISS high and dry (supposedly)?

Really, it ain't hard to figure out. UFOs are real and the triangles are our brand of UFOs. Forget reading the trades' propaganda of "new and improved" this and that hardware and do some research in the real world.

We can venture to hypothesis that their system of "flight" is conducive to multiple manners of application that nol only exceed any conventional power system, but will/has revolutionized all of our concepts of machine movement in air and space. Unfortunately, at present, triangles are probably the best ace we hold, caught in the hands of the military. Let's get them outta there!

I find it stunning that when your government fails to replace the shuttle you conclude something far-fetched, that triangle UFO sightings are sightings of the replacement for the shuttle, rather than the obvious. Your government is stupid and lacks proper leadership.

Yeah the F-35 is a bit of a white elephant.

Australia is supposed to take delivery of 14 Lightning II's in 2014, we're already looking for another option because of the budget and delivery blowouts...

I've read Israel are doing the same.

I sort of thought the same - except for the conclusion.

In an era where the US politics is almost exclusively shades of right-wing-small Govt (compared to the rest of the world that is), because the US population likes it that way, penny pinching over the last 25 years since ht Shuttle became the only space vehicle programme means the rest of the world has moved past you - your efforts are now old, obsolete, inefficient, and driven by the need to lower taxes.

Because y'all have elected governments to make it like that.

Of course he private sector in the US is doing reasonably well - but it has had to start from scartch so is still doing a lot of catching up

I am sure that the image shown is purely a piece of imaginary artwork serving to illustrate the point that they are still looking to build fighters in the future, and that it will bear no actual relation to any aircraft they eventually build. This is normal practice to stimulate interest while giving nothing away.

Maybe that would be the reason it's layout is strangely much closer to the losing ATF contender from Northrop Than it is to their own F-22?

@Waynos

It's funny you say that. I also thought it had more than a passing resemblance to the YF-23.

As to how it is likely to look.

I genuinely hope it doesn't make it to production. Lockheed has mismanaged the JSF so badly that I think another company should get the contract. I remember Boeing had a sixth gen concept not so long ago. Perhaps that might start a competitiveness bidding process so that the US gets the best value for money (and perhaps even see it replace the Typhoon in the UK.

So the USAF B-2 ( based at Whiteman AFB in Missouri) doesn't fly on "plain old" (General electric f118) jet engines??????????? but on "electrogravitics" technologies?

Do you have one stinkin' bit of evidence to support such a wild-a** claim??

No I'm not going to read your dang thread on "electrogravitics".

www.geaviation.com...

by the way the F-35 or"JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER" is the one cost effective airframe intended to serve all services. Reducing maintenance, repair;acquisition and and operating costs.There will be an Air force version; a navy carrier certified version and even a vertical takeoff one to replace the Marine Corps Harrier;
