Why arn't all the Christians of the world apolagising for what the KKK did, all the black people they murdered? I'm sick of people syaing how sorry the whole Muslim world should be. Not every Arab/Muslim is responsible for the horrible events that happened 3 years ago today.

The Pope apologized for the Inquisition (which lasted roughly 600 years 1220-1834) in March of 1990. If other religions follow the catholics schedule for apologies, we might be waiting a while.

This sounds to me like someone is gunning to be the next ground-zero. We already know the fundamentalists have no qualms for killing their own for their cause. But what a pleasant diversion it is...

Although, it is somewhat hard to believe that finally a muslim group is apolgizing for the rather large violent fringe element (I think there are about 3 billion muslims worldwide), there are muslims in America who understand that they have greater freedom to worship as they please here than they do in many muslim nations, where there is violent intolerance of differing sects.

I recently posted a thread regarding Irshad Manji who is an outspoken critic of the brand of Islam that is carrying out the crimes against humanity throughout the world.

Irshad Manji has been called Osama bin Laden's worst nightmare. She is an articulate and outspoken critic of his brand of fundamentalism. A practising Muslim, she believes her religion should embrace, as it has before, and still does in many places, tolerance, compassion and inquiry. She has written a book, 'The Trouble with Islam' which calls for a different kind of Islamic revolution, one in which Osama bin Laden is seen not as the leader but as the exception. From Canada, please welcome, Irshad Manji.

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism is back up and running. I really don't know who is behind the site, but to automatically assume that it is a front for the Bush administration is a kind of bigotry against muslims who oppose the tactics of the radical fringe and love this nation.

This is a quote from their site:

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism is a nonprofit organization made up of American Muslims and American Arabs of all backgrounds who feel that religious violence and terrorism have not been fully rejected by the Muslim community in the post 9-11 era.

The Coalition was created to eliminate broad base support for Islamic extremism and terrorism and to strengthen secular democratic institutions in the Middle East and the Muslim World by supporting Islamic reformation efforts.

The Coalition promotes a modern secular interpretation of Islam which is peace-loving, democracy-loving and compatible with other faiths and beliefs. The Coalitions efforts are unique; it is the only mainstream American-Muslim organization willing to attack extremism and terrorism unambiguously. Unfortunately most other Muslim leaders and organizations believe that when it comes to terrorism, the end justifies the means.

Other Americans have spoken up against terrorism, but never before has this message come with such clarity from Muslims or Arabs. Muslims are the only ones who can solve the problem of terror in Islam, and sadly until the founding of this Coalition, they were the only group who had not definitively spoken up against the use of terror.

This is the part that concerns me. I am wondering why it takes a secular view of Islam to be "peace-loving, democracy-loving and compatible with other faiths and beliefs." I know that ATS is heavily populated with those who are intolerant and disdainful of all religion, but it does not take a secular Christianity to adhere to these values. In fact it from the Judeo-Christian ethic that the values of this nation were taken.

The Coalition promotes a modern secular interpretation of Islam which is peace-loving, democracy-loving and compatible with other faiths and beliefs. These are, however, their stated values and membership is open to all persons regardless of faith.

We believe in the re-interpretation of Islam for the 21st century where terrorism is not justified under any circumstances.

We believe in the separation of religion and state.

We believe that democracy is the best form of government.

We believe in the promotion of secularism in all forms of political activity.

We believe that equality for women is an inalienable right.

We believe that religion is a personal relationship between the individual and his or her God and is not to be forced on anyone.

It should also be remembered that it was the muslim community in New York that turned in a cell of terrorists who were operating in their community.

While the effort toward peace with Islam in America is a very difficult one when we consider the likes of the hate spewing Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, certainly there are those who do appreciate the freedoms that are afforded those of us who live in these United States.

To those of you who can only find fault with your nation and can only see conspiracies in every ray of hope, I can only leave you with this final word:

Delusion: A fixed false belief.

Is there any reason think the worldtribune.com is a credible? I mean, if this was REALLY put out by a genuine islamic group, wouldn't they at least send it to media outlets people have heard of, rather than a single anonymous "internet only" news source.

I think if this had been genuine, it would have made the news somewhere by now.

Face it. It's a hoax / smear job.

An apology from the Muslim community?

Where was it three years ago?

It's a matter of, "too little, too late" if you ask me.

Hell, they're celebrating in the UK!
