NASA has come out and debunked the 2012 hype. I gotta say I tend to believe them, afterall, they were right about Elenin right. Interesting read none the less.
www.space.com...

According to the ancient Mayan calendar, next year's winter solstice marks the end of a 144,000-day cycle. This cycle, which begins at the mythical Maya creation date, has already been repeated 12 times. The 13th will end in 2012, capping a full 5,200-year Mayan cycle of creatio

The only bodies that have any significant gravitational impact on Earth are the moon and the sun, effects we see as the tides. Tidal effects from other bodies in our solar system are negligible at best, and in any case, we have experienced them for millions of years without notice.

There are no known near-Earth objects in 2012 that present a credible risk to Earth," Yeomans said. "None, zero, zip, nada.

But despite evidence to the contrary, doomsdays theorists have garnered attention, and similar prophecies will continue to proliferate unless scientists become more involved in bringing truth to these outlandish claims,

I've pointed out many times to people who are freaking out about the Mayan Calendar that it's the end of a cycle which means it's just starting over again..

These things just don't die however.. it will be just like elenin where it literally has to pass before the hardcore believers give up on it .. but even then, with something like this, they'll probably just think that perhaps our calculations off and it actually meant 2013 not 2012 =) .. this is likely to keep going for quite a while.

i can say for sure that this year and the past few years before this one that major natural disasters have been recorded as the most in history for each year straight , increasing each year. So as for 2012 I don't think the world will end but don't be surprised if there's a few nasty earthquakes and maybe a volcano eruption or two. Aside from that don't quit your day job.

Of course i don't believe in the 2012 nonsense, wasn't it the case that the "real" calculated date for "the end" of their cycle was actually already back in November?

You know, Earth is 4.5Billion years old...and people are talking about the end of the world for THOUSANDS of years already..back in the middle-ages etc. we already had those nut cases! And they will continue to do so, and people will continue to be gullible. Because humans are stupid.

And you believe everything NASA tells you? That's a BIG mistake. They tell you what their masters tell them to say. If anything Earth shattering was going to happen, the masses would be the LAST to know because of the anarchy and social breakdown that would result with an organisation like NASA saying things were going to end. Anyway watch the USGS and RSOE sites for earthquake intensity, particularly in the last three weeks. Intensity and frequency of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are jacking up. By last week of August/first and second week of September 2012 it will be total party time! And the fifth world will have begun to arise... and by New Year 2013.. the New Jerusalem....

The sad truth is that NASA is actually making good attempts to bring what is actually "hard science" closer to the mainstream people. NASA is actually *trying* to educate people - they let school children participate actively with experiments, they have educational web sites for everyone to access.

School children in the past could make science experiments which then were put on a Space Shuttle - and right now they have workshops for teachers set up for their recent Mars rover mission. As i remember, there is also some science experiments and other stuff going on to actively engage kids in recent missions.

So..you know..NASA would not need to do anything! They could just have some "nerd websites" where you need to be a member of the science establishment to even log-on and GET any information on missions. Or they could just hold all their experiments and findings and not even release anything unless requested.

And WHY do you think is NASA trying to educate people and trying to make them understand what's going on?

Because of such ignorant people who live 500 years in the past and rather choose to get their "information" from the Art Bell show or your next "neighborhood channeler" - because society is full of ignorant people who have no clue of basic science ...and NASA *actively* tries to work there and to educate people.

But..of course, you will deny this because you choose to be blind and rather choose fiction/religion or the Art Bell show etc...instead of getting informed what's really going on.

(Like that one person who made a thread a few weeks ago seeing Earth's shadow on Moon, being convinced it's Niburu since she had no idea that the Moon actually has phases...)

Sure wouldn't be because NASA has been caught red handed lying their collective rearends off every other week! No that surely couldn't be it.

Are you kidding? If it were not for all the science and documentation they provide, what content would you have to apply a judgement of credibility against?

I have to agree. The 2012 theory is interesting, but in the end, it's just not going to happen. Does anyone care to think, that our calendars also end in 2012? It means you'll have to go buy another calendar.

But all kidding aside, I saw all the same hype in December of 1999. Everyone was talking about the dreaded Y2K bug and how it was going to cause nuclear weapons to launch and how we'd all die in a nuclear Holocaust. Same deal, just twelve years later.

So..if you speak of all those "lies" from NASA...please do me a favor and list them, because i would like to see them.
And please do not use theories like reptilians and "i found structures on moon by examining this photo for 10 hours"..i am talking about REAL proof that NASA is lying.

I also find it "interesting" (to say it mildly) that you guys are always very quick to a) reject what NASA says right away or b) accuse them of lying - but when you get information from other sources like your favorite conspiracy blog or whoever known Nutcase (like Hoagland etc.)...then you are VERY QUICK to believe them, even if what they say is 1000x less credible and doesn't make any sense.

I'm pretty firm in my beliefs and feel that whatever will happen.. will. To be 100% honest with everyone right now i have to say that its not the fear of possibility the world ending, but its the pandemonium that will surly ensue a little less then a year from now. I don't mean to fear monger at all because I'm against that but I can see right now the possibility of suicides, rioting, murders, and God knows what else might actually happen. We saw the panic in 2000.. and the fake "end time" predictions just recently that cause so many suicides. The 2012 "prediction" has this calender/date stamped bricks pushing the hype forward when other predictions of the past did not have such weight to them, which is why it may be so disconcerting. I'm just hoping this fizzles out relativity soon.. for everyone's sake.

How can you debunk the NWO when we know its genuine with agenda 21?
The 2012 appolocolypseisnt just about the mayan calendar, its about the eugenics movement and depopulation which will probably lead to ww3

Oh Man, Is NASA bringing down the 2012 doom alert?
But hey, we don't need no stinking space rock, nor you to tell us you have declared the hood safe for a year.

Just two things to say to get ATS back on track:

Solar Max
&
Pole Shift

Betcha did not expect that bombshell NASA...surprise!!

Two more for the hard of hearing:
B Peed'd oil in my gulf
and Japan is cooking my kids.

NASA knows nothing about calling off doom, we got-er-covered boys!
clean up

Would you care to shine some light on these lies? Don't bother mentioning the obvious ones like saying Elenin and 2005 YU55 weren't going to his us. We all remember how the world ended twice in just a few weeks and that we're all now dead.

I don't, but don't at the same time hold those thought. Just think paying attention to the Sun and the CME's that are expected to be worst next year and peak in 2013, is a good thing. And giving a lot of love to the people you know and trying to wake up more, deprogram from all their Isms, and really hold good visions of equality, freedom, happiness and healing for everyone.
