Wow!! I am totally amazed. There is not much I can say, as an opinion is not really applicable.

Hey, Aussies! Please can someone fill us in on this first hand? Maybe with pics? And why is it not on the news or did I just miss it?
This seems legit to me, and to you?

BUSBY - Residents of this small Australian town were shocked to see two full moons in sky!Tonight, there’s a full moon in Busby, Australia. Many residents were admiring it when at 1:20 a.m., local time, a second moon rose in the night sky.

Residents couldn’t believe what they were seeing! Astronomers across the world were alerted to this sighting and have confirmed the existence of a second earth moon. “We have never seen anything like this before,” said researcher Rich Montano at the University of California, Los Angeles. There had been some rumors that a second moon was seen over Hong Son, Thailand in 1967, but it was only seen for a few hours and only in that one location, but now everyone across Australia can see the second moon. It’s awe-inspiring.

Residents of Los Angeles, and the rest of the world, will be able to see the second moon with the naked eye as night falls. Busby residents are out in the streets staring up in wonder at the second moon. “It’s exciting, but also frightening,” said Carol McNulty of Busby. “It’s so beautiful, but what does it mean? Why did the second moon appear tonight? Why?

NASA astronomers are studying the second moon carefully. The powerful Japanese telescope, the Subaru, is also focused on the second moon. When asked to explain this phenomenon the head of NASA’s Lunar Science Division had this simple statement, “We don’t know. We are studying it, but it has us all baffled.”

Weekly World News has the same journalistic integrity as my cat. It is an entertainment mag.

This is their logo:

It is an entertainment magazine filled with mostly stories of Elvis being alive and Bigfoot and other "news" stories that seem too fantastic to be true. I think it is mostly in North America.

If real and at best case scenario, it's the same phenomenon as this illusion...

If it were real we would not just now be hearing about it. Plus if you cant tell just by looking at the picture then I dont know what else to say.

NIBIRU!!!

Seriously, the image is clearly photoshopped.

That photo looks manipulated, the moons are different colors, one looks more squashed then other. It looks and screams fake.

Plus if you really look, it's the same moon. Line it up and then shrink it., then change one of the moons colors. Copy and paste, then rotate one the moons 90 degrees and woola, you got a second moon.

Hoax

Plus, we have members who are in Australia, I'm sure they would of at least posted some pictures or have said anything.

Ok, people. Please lay off the sarcasm and attacks. This was emailed to me by a friend and I am not familiar with Weekly World News. It is an honest mistake to fall for it.

Please keep in mind that life is a learning curve and it takes one person to point out that the source is apparently unreliable. We were all unfamiliar with facts at one point or another. Take it easy. Now I know.

I fell for it because making a claim such as Many residents were admiring it when at 1:20 a.m., local time, a second moon rose in the night sky. would be way to daring if not true.

Please stop crusifying me, it was an honest mistake.

Mods, please close this thread, the black rain is staining my head!!

If another body that size rose that close, the effects of the gravitational pull would be noticed all over the place, and it would not be all that nice.

'Course, i've seen two moons before, too. I think i was seeing two of everything that night, though.

Many residents were admiring it when at 1:20 a.m., local time, a second moon rose in the night sky.

Those folks were hittin' it hard, i guess. lol

As others have said, see source.

Then again, maybe Nibiru sneaked up on us. BOO!

it was an honest mistake.

My first reaction wasn't too good either.
I saved the picture,
loaded up into my photo editor,
and started screening it for photoshop errors hidden in the greys and blacks.

Nothing. Decent photoshop job. Couldn't find any splices.

Then, and only then,
did I just look at the picture.
It hit me. Obvious fake.
The yellow, or honey, colored moon happens when the moon is very close to the horizon.
Not very high up in the sky.
Yet in this picture the silvery moon is lower, and closer (larger)

So, only then did I look up the source (never heard of it myself)
and found on their main page a story about clouds being UFO's.

Weekly World News - Enough said!

I used to buy that tabloid when I was young just to be entertained, I even knew as a kid that their material was all made up but it was the equivalent of buying a mad magazine for me as far as I was concerned... toilet material ( sorry, but that's what it was! ) .. It was one of those things I would get when I was in the checkout line with my mom because it always had outrageous photos .. like the president shaking hands with an alien, or the famous bat boy photo in their logo...

They have absolutely zero credibility as a valid news source.
