money that really doesn't mean anything, its just a substance that allows us to reach our inner wealth faster.

If anything, money and materialism stifle our ability to self-actualize.

I find it moronic that we have digital copyright laws for things like books, music, etc. I understand that people have a right to make a profit, but some things should be free for the sake of enriching humanity. eBooks and eReaders literally have the ability to revolutionize libraries because books no longer have to be physical possessions; a giant mass of knowledge can be made available to anyone who has a computer and an internet connection, for free. Anyone fighting to prevent such a thing from happening is most definitely against progression and the betterment of mankind.

Copyright is intended to prevent malefic individuals from stealing one person's work and profiting from it as if it were their own (quite ironic considering corporations, like iTunes+recording company, take 89% of all profits made from digital music sales). It is not intended to punish people for enjoying music, art, or literature, without profiting from it.

Well now! So the organisation which is currently trying to close up all the rules on content sharing is rife with data thieves, and we had a thread up here at ATS not so long back about child porn in the Pentagon.

How much more will the people of the US have to endure, before something gives? Your politicians, much like those of any nation, are a group of people who deal without exception in double standards. They support US activities which amount to torture in all but name, they download content illegaly, they watch children being destroyed mentally and physically , and arrest anyone below thier pay grade or of a different nationality who would do the same!
They sponsor south american terrorists, while harrassing Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and all the other 'stans for sponsoring terrorism. They take your taxes, and dodge the IRS themselves, and I would assume thier expenses are less than transparent as well.

I ask once more, how much more are you willing to take before you snap, and gut those officious scumbags in thier beds?

Heh, i came across this article the other day on torrentfreak;

The best part:

We’ll list one of the least explicit here below, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

It goes on to show, "Gangland.Cream.Pie.21"

One can only imagine the rest of the titles.

Hypocrites to the maximum.

Looks like we're going to have to shut the internet down so congress can't use it. A kill-switch or something. Yep.

For me it says it has no records. I checked this with a friend, and it claimed he had downloaded Skyrim.
This is incorrect because he actually bought Skyrim.

Will just say this again

Ok so when joe public gets caught people cry that you can't trust an IP for any number of reasons but now its fine?
Another thing do you all think that the people that work in these places are a hivemind and all mirror each other? or do you think just maybe that the people who work there are just as differeant than you or I?

people are getting way to self centered and contradictory.

Who are the hypocrites? the people who have been saying IPs aren't a form of identification for years? the people who have no idea what members of staff were downloading?

Yet another example of the obvious reckless abandon and delusions of elitism that motivates the (house) slave.

The implication is because they do it, that it should be off limits to us as the general free world. Feeding their ego, and furthering the false class system that they preserve.

Furthermore, any one who is blessed to have a job in these times would NOT run the risk of downloading pornography and WHOLE SEASONS of television programs stolen from premium cable subscriptions. The fact that these people would do so holding such a supposedly important, secure, and regarded position is nothing short of psychotic.

When will these idiots learn that the curtain has been pulled back, and we see them for the frauds and balding charlatans that they are?

If you can, dump it into a SQL db (Access will work if you don't have a SQL server), setting the IP address field to a "nvarchar" or "varchar" data type. Run the following:

select *
from [your table name not in brackets]
where IP between cast(212.77.0.0 as numeric) and cast(212.77.31.255 as numeric)

Enjoy!

We would probably get stuck with the bill, through some clever laundering, if one of these yahoos was ever sued as a private citizen, too.

And I assumed no one on ATS was still paying taxes or loans. Shame on me.

was that the only thing you took away from the post??

I have a subscription to netflix.

Do i watch netflix at work??

No, and neither should our government officials - paid subscription or not.

Furthermore, A whole season of dexter does not equate to a cable subscription. The legal thing would be to order/buy the whole season. No?

If it was all aired on tv and the person pays for that then why can't they download it? Are you against people using recording devices that connect to the TV as well?

the GOVERNMENT says it's wrong, and this is BEFORE SOPA/PIPA go into effect, the COURTS say it wrong. I could care less but the one thing I hate is

DO AS I SAY, not as I do.

the length of the cable connected to that TV Does matter, if you stream from your DVR at home thru the net it's called a public performance, you did not buy the "rights" to that.Even if you watch it alone at your work PC

crazy Huh?

That's great but it has nothing to do with recording TV that you pay for. What is going on with this site the last few days so much misinfo being posted.

Because it was buying the DVDs, it could offer new titles as soon as new releases were available for sale in stores.

No.
I do not know of any branch of Govt or major company for that matter, That would allow you to use their computers ,bandwidth, and hard drives for personal use.
Would you allow your employees to DL movies on your comp and connection while they take a break?

Im against two sets of rules... that's all.
I could care less what people DL.
However, if I can be jailed for an action, the same laws should apply to govt officials and employees.
You don't get a frikkin pass because you have a Gubbermint job.

As far as the RIAA DLing illegal content, IMHO, the RIAA should be charged as a group, and disbanded.
I'd love to see a big goverment siezure page on their website.
