I personally don't see what is wrong with this. It's offering a new look on things, whilst at the same time being more fun and interesting.

Think its kinda cool personally.

If anything the hard line extremists should appreciate this, it may help convert those godless aliens joy riding around space.

I can see how some might find it disrespectful.
However, it is also a stretch to portray Jesus, his family, and sometimes even the wise men as white Europeans. They were all brownish Semitics/Asians/Africans.
So whatevs. I say get a sense of humor and have a good time getting drunk with your family and friends.
Peace.

Seeing the images at first, I myself would think "what the hell?" and understand why some would be offended... Going through it all and realizing the bigger picture I would say "wow, the message is deep and not offending at all". This shows more than what the creator thought it would, it shows to analyze something and see the bigger picture within it, everything you see or think at first isn't always that.

I think it's important to be respectful of other people's beliefs but it's also important to be able to express one's self. We don't live in a society where people wants to kill artists that sketches prophets and gods, I rather like to think that we're beyond that.

This isn't a question of intolerance, it's pure self-expression, this person has as much right to do this as bible preachers that like to shove their beliefs in other people's faces.

Good for him. Fits in with a recent statement from the Pope's chief astronomer too.

Well, if I have my understandings correct, Pope Benedict did state that the existence of aliens is accepted within the Church. This was, as they admitted as a joke and artists rendition but it is "just one of those things that make you go hmmmmmm"

Fanatics will always be fanatics. They take offense to the slightest suggestion of things not being the way they think they are. Rest easy though, their time is growing short.

Who gives a hoot what way people want to celebrate their traditions..if it isn't creating violence or extremism then who cares...people just need to stop getting butt hurt.

If I want to put skeletons in my front yard depicting a scene then I will..

This politically correct crap is corrupting everything, not all of it, but most.

In a city that strives to "Keep Portland Weird" this is but one of the many eclectic displays.

I LOVE it. Especially the reflection of self as the "baby Jesus." Though I am not "Christian," per se, I do believe that Consciousness is "God" co-creating the Now. How perfect a...er...reflection of that this "baby Jesus" is!

very sweet!

since when was "too weird" "confusing" a bad thing?

as an artist i embrace it all! if a piece is too understandable i work on it till it isn't.

props to these artists for making us look at the nativity scene from another angle.

Nice!, that would make 1 nativity I would want to see...I'd hope next year they don't do the McDonald Nativity though.

I would set something up like that. Because honestly, if Jesus was a real "person", I believe he was extraterrestrial. I honestly believe personally that religion is a form of comprehension for us to understand the complexities of the extraterrestrials that have been here off and on through the centuries. It's the only thing that makes real sense to me. My religion would be along those lines. And, that is my Freedom. Sorry if my religion offends others, but that's just tough. Get over it.

I think that's the most accurate depiction if you really want to look at it?
If baby jebas was infact real and not just a tool, he was an alien

There was an OPEN-MINDED Catholic church priest, here in NZ, who posted a billboard of the Virgin Mary looking in horror at a pregnancy test.

Yes, it was torn down blah blah.

The point is to keep an open mind.

Go that priest.
