I have no family and i am spending this day alone. And I guess i have got no real friends either because not one of them has even called to wish me merry Christmas. I guess I have come to understand this it's been 4 years now since my father passed and who was my last living relative and I been alone every birthday, holiday since. I allways hope for a christmas miracle or something but have come to the realization miracles never happen. I am also facing eviction from my home soon due to loss of vehicle and not having transportation to and from work which was 14 miles away.

So happy holidays for those who have em.

That sucks, Proob. Hopefully things turn around for the better for you in the New Year. Positive thoughts coming your way and for what it's worth, Merry Christmas to you anyway.

i've just returned from visiting my father in the hospital to sit here alone in the house.
my family is basically down to me, 2 sisters and my father.
both sisters had to stay home for work.
i appreciate this o.p., it has been a sad time and it's nice to be reasured that i am not alone.
i would never wish this type of thing on anyone.
star and flag, which is pretty rare for me, and thank you for the thoughts.

I'm sort of in the same type situation. I understand what you mean...but it will get better. We just have to have faith in that. At least that is how I keep going. We never know what tomorrow will bring, and never give in or give up!

Cheers everyone! And thank you neformore for your kind thread. I am kind of alone. I worked today, in a great restaurant, so I was with very nice colleagues and a lot of happy guests.
On xmas eve, yesterday, I really was on my own. Not a very big deal. The first time ever, iirc. It was kind of nice and it reminds one of the people in ones life worth sharing everything with.

I made a nice tapas treat for myself to enjoy the evening and watched some scrooge-esk movies (oh, man the animated movie A Cristmas Carol (2009) - Jim Carey is a great one for all you ATS'ers out there to watch! Full of on topic symbolism with a nice sauce of soul)

Tomorrow, boxing day, however, I will spend with my next of kin. It's my nephew's birthday.. Awesome!

So, my Xmas is not that bad..

I wish all of you the best, and may your hearts open up to the true 'Spirit of Christmas', which has all to do with kindness in ones heart for all others...

Namaste!

thanx for that, and maybe next time i'm ready to punch another hole in the wall i'll get ahold of you.
i think many of us are at that age where those we love are getting old and leaving us.
no matter how much we prepare ourselves it is never easy.
btw, i added you to my meager list of friends, hope you don't mind.

i feel so emo right now. lol
my emotions get amplified when i see all (most) of my friends on fb and the pictures they post up with all their family having an actual family dinner. i miss those days.
only if one day everyone in the family puts our differences aside and just have a wonderful holiday.
thank you a lot.

2nd line.
only if we can have like a "net dinner" with all the ATS'ers lol.

I know! It's a shame. I'll bet many of us here have fragmented families. You have given me an idea for next year...we SHALL have that ATS dinner party...even if it is virtual....now THAT should be fun

times like this i always just remind myself how easy we actually have it.
just thinking of things like what family members went through durring ww2 always gets me to suck it up a bit and live on.
seriously, compared to others, this is nothing.
i'm american, i'm not hungry, broke, locked in chains etc............

Talking about someone spending christmas on their own...

While not quite alone, but gone from home, I 'adopted' 2 basic trainees (US Army) to have Chirstmas dinner with us, a tradition at our post.

I was happy to offer them a home away from home

There you go! That is the honest truth.Sometimes we have to be reminded of things like that. No matter how bad things seem.... there is ALWAYS someone who has it worse, and would probaly love to switch places

No you aren't....if you are here...at least not totally. I hope you enjoy the day, alone or not, and I hope that you don't feel so alone now!

Thanks, I like keeping company with crazy people, lol, guess it's just like christmas with most families after all. Just kidding, indeed at least I'm not completely alone as long as I have the internet.

While late in the day, I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy All-Holidays

Several years ago, I was one of the few who had no family or friends other than the wonderful group on ATS. Since then, my fortunes have changed for the better (in the personal arena), but I still count myself lucky to have everyone then, now, and in the future.

I wish everyone love, luck, and peace. Here's to a new year filled with nothing but the best *toasts to ATS*
