This is all just a terrible guise, meant to pull the wool over the sheeps eyes. Christmas/Hanukkah/Quanza/Festivus is just a huge scale ploy to keep everyone distracted from what is really going on in this world today. Things are going to happen, and happen sooner than later, im afraid. This is a plan that is apparently working. The American public refuses to see this, they will not see it till its too late. This being the first post of a new member/long time troller. I cannot just sit back and read anymore, my voice has to be heard. World

i've owned some nice shoes. some didn't even need a "break in" period. and not once did i ever think....."hey licking the bottom of my shoe will make it better."

I'm usually an optimistic person and believe that mankind can overcome the problems of today and find a more just, peaceful and equitable world.
Seeing stuff like this makes me wonder if the world wouldn't be better off without us..

"you gotta lick these shoes"

I am out of touch with modern society and would prefer to stay that way.

You know, the really sad thing is, these people? don't even realise just how stupid they look doing garbage like this. Like the guy at the end of this video "Waited a life time for this." Really a life time waiting for a freaking pair of sneakers? Wow.

Welcome, TWT. You clearly took the red pill.

You're right. Virtually every aspect of life from festivals to politics has been commoditized, corporatized, marketed and sold.

You know the OP video might one day be seen as a bizarre introduction to a historical documentary on The Beginning of the Second Dark Age.

On the other hand a sizeable proportion of the world's population has never known anything but corruption, exploitation and oppression — not to mention poverty. Why do we tend to think in terms of a Doomsday scenario just because the West is on the brink? Is it perhaps because every aspect of our lives is dominated by self-absorbtion, thanks in no small measure to the corporate consumer culture?

Sorry if this sounds bleak. But the rot has even affected our ability to see things objectively and, dare I say it, compassionately.

The irony is society needs a functioning economy. How did we get to a point where you're generally left with a choice between a debt-based status quo and utter chaos?

There has to be a better way. Which is where the dictators step in...

It's scenes like this that make me look for a place to rent in the middle of a tiny community somewhere.

We need to start creating a new society, like the people in "The Village" - only without the religious doctrine.

This is happening everywhere, from iPhones to computer games. And I just find it utterly shameful. These people are not capable of thinking for themselves, or prioritizing, or recognizing their own greed and selfishness.
They have absolutely no self-respect.

As I said in the last thread on this subject (I don't know where that one went) these are the people we should all fear when the SHTF. They'll be the ones breaking in because you planned and prepared while they were waiting in line to buy up the latest trash.

When the food parcels are being handed out, anyone wearing a pair of these should be turned away. If you wasted money on this rubbish, you deserve everything you get.

Now don't get all up in arms folks.
The world is not coming to an end.
As long as I d not want these trinkets, they hold no power over me.
The real question you must ask is, "Just who is stabbing, shooting, beating others for these trinkets"?
There you will find the answer to your question.

I tried to write this in the other thread but it was closed.

Well done for completely selling out.

While you were waiting in line for your "precious" materialistic rubbish, hundreds of thousands of others on the planet were waiting in line for seven hours for bread to feed their children.

I'm sure owning those shoes will mean you become successful in everything you do. I'm positive that just having those on your feet won't mark you out as being another sheep who was stupid enough to fall for some very basic and simplistic marketing. I'm sure they'll make you feel really special for far longer than just a week.

[/sarcasm]

Seriously - and I mean this from the bottom of my heart - I hope you step into the largest pile of staining turd ever witnessed. I hope they disintegrate within a month, falling off your feet like the pile of sweat-shop trash they are. I hope that in a week you look at those and then look at your bare cupboard and think of how stupid a decision it was.

I don't know anything about you, but I know that if I knew you and saw those on your feet I would be walking the other way and would not want to associate myself with you.

And as someone else has suggested, I would love to see someone in front of a crowd of brain-dead, mindless sheep like these people and burn a pair of this trash for all to see.

Personally, I would love to see these people allowed into a mall where only one pair remain. Then lock the doors and let them kill each other for ownership. It's the natural way. Packs of animals would fight over a carcass in the wild, so I say lets get to it and make that happen. The strongest 'tard in there will get them, then he or she can be released.

Oh, and they should televise it like Big Brother so we all have something to laugh at and ridicule, knowing that we've just poured a little more chlorine in the gene pool.

Whatever, I brought those shoes with money that ``I`` worked for!

I didn't hurt anyone, I didn't break anything, I just brought some shoes.

Geez! Didn't know that was considered a crime.

You're just an asshole!

I'm not questioning your ability to buy something that you wanted, I'm questioning your common sense and morality for spending so much money on something that was made for a fraction of the price by someone who cannot afford any of the opportunities or the basic rights that you have.

You can call me an asshole all you like, I'm not the one treating a pair of shoes as though they are a coveted precious object or relic from a God.

I know how to prioritize, and I have enough self-respect to not fall for some lame commercialism and think that something I put on my feet has any value other than keeping my toes dry and protecting my soles from the ground.

You know that's what shoes are for, right? You know that you've just spent over $150 on a pair of really thick socks?

Buying these things won't change how others look at you in any positive way. They won't enrich your life. They won't further your career or do anything beneficial for you. They'll fill a hole in your soul for a few days, maybe a week. Then you'll be lining up to buy something else to fill that hole.

Such a hole can only be healed from within, not by stuffing it full of crap.

Do I sound like I'm arrogant and superior? I don't care. I know the difference between want and need, and I know the difference between self-respect and unrestrained commercialism.

Oh, no you don't!

You don't ``need`` the Internet, but you have it. Instead of steadily paying your Internet bill you could donate your alloted Internet money to a charity or something.......... but no you'd rather have the Internet because you want to facebook, act like a morally superior tough guy on ATS and whatnot.

That sounds pretty selfish to me.

ooooohhhhh...I dunno...I bet I could round up a few white girls who would do just about anything for a pair of ferragamos or Ash wedges ...but I digress. I know its great when black people provide things to help the rest of you feel superior but if we could just crane our necks a bit we will see that this is not relegated to a specific group...this foaming at the mouth consumerism. Just for a bit of perspective though...here is a bit about a group of women fighting over high end shoes, tearing ass through Madison Square park to find those high end ankle and shin destroyers. Brides are a popular group to go after an they always deliver the goods as far as ferocity....

Shoe Frenzy

Every year...about February...bridal shops drop the prices of gowns dramatically and every year a free for all issues at expos and shops all over the place

Wedding Dress Free for all

And who can forget the Cabbage Patch Craze....dig the insanity at about the 1 min mark

The only color that matters in this game is green. The inner city dwellers have their own issues as to why they are easy targets but they are by no means alone. Middle class white America has steadily driven itself into debt buying sh*t they dont need and the proof is hanging out there all pink and naked as they make their way to the po folks markets where poor whites and minorities have been shopping the whole time. But pointing fingers at whose doing what is pointless. How about everyone get together and go after those who are hell bent on provoking such Pavlovian responses.

Really? Who is the asshole here? What I think you meant to say is that you bought the shoes with federal reserve notes, covered with masonic symbolism, given to you by a wage slave holder. And you were so eager to give those notes right back to a company that does the exact same thing but worse to children throughout the world. You didn't directly hurt anyone but you just financed a company that does. Still like your sick new kicks? You have every right to buy and enjoy your shoes but if you think you can come here and try to convince people that it is somehow cool or acceptable behavior you are mistaken. This is coming from someone who grew up wearing Jordans among other sneakers. I still own some Nikes and to be honest I'm ashamed that I was ever tricked into buying their product. Now people like you who revel in that fact really make no sense at all. Are those shoes waterproof? Think they will keep you warm? Hope so because tough times are ahead for all of us if we don't change our ways. Wake up!!

Maybe we at ATS should be supporting that goal instead of knocking it
