Same as the other 80% of conservatives!
Anybody but Paul.
And no I don't put much stake into Iowa.

Iowa has become a gimmick state lately. Bad candidates win there sometimes.

And just like I thought...more and more leaks out.

Ron Paul supporters, it's going to become harder and harder for you to defend he didn't know about these newsletters. I've already seen some of you jump ship to "I don't care if he's racist"...I guess we will be seeing more of you do the same.

news.yahoo.com...

In ad for newsletter, Ron Paul forecast "race war"

A direct-mail solicitation for Ron Paul's political and investment newsletters two decades ago warned of a "coming race war in our big cities" and of a "federal-homosexual cover-up" to play down the impact of AIDS.

The eight-page letter, which appears to carry Paul's signature at the end, also warns that the U.S. government's redesign of currency to include different colors - a move aimed at thwarting counterfeiters - actually was part of a plot to allow the government to track Americans using the "new money."
...
Ivers said, Paul does not deny or retract material that Paul has written under his own signature, such as the letter promoting Paul's newsletters.

When asked whether that meant Paul believed there was a government conspiracy to cover up the impact of AIDS, Ivers said, "I don't think he embraces that."

So there you have it...from Pauls campaign spokesperon.

He still denies the newsletters...but he admits to the letters promoting them and within those letters he talks plenty about homosexuals and the coming "race war".

It's just going to roll down hill from here for Paul unless he owns up to these newsletters.

And if you guys don't think this is having an impact...just go look at the top news stories for Ron Paul. People that have never heard of him, or are only seriously paying attention to him for the first time now get to see these stories first. You can blame the media all you want...but it is Paul's fault for not taking it head on and revealing all information about these newsletters.

My surprised meter is low.

He treats black patients so he can't be racist.

And wants to legalize drugs!

he HAS answered it, over and over and over and over. deep breath, and over and over. your problem is, you don't like the answer, so it's as if he never answered it. you have some mental block going on.

the libertarian party movement has had a whole slew of people of various conspiratorial positions. i mean it's like saying if one day, springer or skeptic overlord ran for president, and they missed some racist commentary in one of the threads, that they should be held to the same scrutiny. and this is their full time job. paul was a full time doctor.

i understand your desire to have people who better fit your position, in office, but please attempt to do so by facing reality, that he's answered and addressed the newsletters repeatedly

He hasn't answered it...he hasn't revealed WHO wrote the letters.

He claims that he knows the 6-8 people that could of written it (including his wife, daughter, and close campaign staffers)...but none of those would look good either...because Ron Paul is trying to play it off as he would have no idea or no connection to someone who would write something like that.

Why doesn't he just release ALL the names of the people that were involved with those newsletters? Plus, there are now more information coming out (letters and tv ads) of Ron Paul actively supporting these newsletters...and the language in the letters seems to back up what is said in the newsletters (race war?).

I understand your need to deny anything negative about the candidate you support...but don't expect the world to do the same.

So, BH, in what way has Paul NOT responded or dealt with this issue HONESTLY?

First he said he didn't write them. Then he said he did. Then he said he didn't, but won't tell who did.... SOMETHING in there has to be untrue...

1996 Source

Dr. Paul, who is running in Texas' 14th Congressional District, defended his writings in an interview Tuesday. He said they were being taken out of context.

"It's typical political demagoguery," he said. "If people are interested in my character . . . come and talk to my neighbors."
...
A phone call to the newsletter's toll-free number was answered by his campaign staff.

Ron Paul's Skeleton Closet

Only people with hate in their hearts and who can't forgive will try to keep this alive.

Forgive what? Did someone apologize and I missed it? Did ANYONE take responsibility for these writings published by Ron Paul? What does hate have to do with anything? Seems like more and more, if you disagree with a Ron Paul supporter it means you're a criminal, ignorant, stupid, hateful or heartless.
I'm sorry, that's hilarious.

so you're assuming you have the support of the world on this issue and that i'm a campaigner for ron paul? no, i'm just very observant, and also very honest.

now why is everyone still ranting about a 20 year old newsletter? well let me see, when i was 33 i drank some beer. think about this: this situation is untenable. every presidential candidate ends up being rolled over hot coals of fire, some survive even though the info against them is pretty darn bad. some don't, even though the info against them is rather ordinary. so clearly, if ron paul is supposed to be president (as far as TPTB are concerned) he will be, and if not, he won't be, regardless of whether he's a good doctor or a tyrannical madman.

At least you acknowledge it and take responsibility for it.

Of course. Every president is going to be raked over the coals.

Never been a Democrat in my life, so you don't know me as well as you think.
I have been seriously considering voting for Ron Paul. It's still a possibility, in fact. Take your assumptions somewhere else.

Yeah, you missed it apparently. Look I can put a laughy face in here as well.

You and others who think like you seem hard pressed to deny that Paul ever took responsibility and apologized and repudiated racist beliefs. The fact that it has been pointed out far too many times in this thread (with accompanying links to statements and/or videos made by HIM) while continuing to point fingers and spew racial labels does make you hateful.

Unfortunately, I don't find your willful ignorance of the facts hilarious, but what else is new. That's your MO, right?

I think if Dr Paul was absolved for real and imaginary words, from Jesus,Allah, or even the Supreme Court, his detractors would STILL find fault in him. Dont like him? Dont vote for him.

A Benevolent Heretic defense of Obama attending a racist church for 20 years (get ready for this people!)

His pastor is an angry black man, IMO. Probably with good reason. But we only saw a few seconds of this man's views. We are each better than the worst thing we ever do. Unfortunately, for some, that "worst thing" gets put on YouTube and played over and over. There's more to the Reverend Wright than his angry rantings. Secondly, Wright is not running for president. Obama is. I will not judge Obama for a few seconds of angry ranting by a public figure whose job it is to excite people in a dramatic way. I have people in my family AND friends that I would be embarrassed for the public to know that I associated with them because of some of the ignorant things they have said. But they are my friends and family and I love them, even though they aren't perfect.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

let's see if BH will defend his/her position on this. we can ask him/her the same question again and later, again. and later, again, and just pretend he/she didn't answer it and ask it again. and again. and again till he/she finally says, "oh screw it" and puts us on ignore.

What are you wanting me to defend? Obama got dragged over the coals and so will all other presidential candidates. I fail to see how my statement about Reverend Wright (someone who did NOT run for president) in any way contradicts my belief that all candidates should be ready to be dragged over the coals...
