Gingrich accused of illegally profiting off campaign (It's Over Newt!)

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich became the target on Monday of a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint filed by the non-profit watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which accused the Georgia Republican of illegally profiting off his campaign.

The complaint is based on a revelation by The Washington Post‘s Dan Eggen, who discovered that Gingrich had personally sold a mailing list to his campaign and profited to the tune of $47,005, then failed to report the transaction on a key FEC document. That’s count one, according to CREW.

That mailing list did not belong to Gingrich personally, CREW said. It instead belonged to Gingrich Productions, Inc., a private business that sells Gingrich’s books. Since he paid himself instead of Gingrich Productions, CREW alleged that a second count of using campaign money for personal expenses is called for as well. The treasurer who signed off on the deal is also accused of violating campaign finance laws.

And all this BEFORE a primary has happened or a caucus has occurred. Thank you SO MUCH, media and both parties, for deciding who I get to decide on before ANYONE even has the chance to make a choice.

This is how this will go then.... Everyone BUT Romney will be attacked from every direction with everything that even remotely smells decent for an attack until Romney is the Candidate by sheer default. THEN Obama will finally turn on Romney and put him down completely.

The anatomy of a political campaign run 100% on the destruction of others because personal merit simply doesn't exist.

Can someone wake me up next Nov? I feel this desperate desire to find a place to hibernate between now and then. This campaign will have us all wishing we'd never heard any of these names by then, I'm sure.

what really bothers me is when I hear the statement that someone is "not electable"

that means that there are protocols in place to prevent an outsider from ever gaining control.

the establishment has already chosen for us I believe. the next 5 years are probably already written out.

This post has made my day which was, till now, pretty crappy for having a post I put up removed by a super moderator for committing an infraction that I did not know I was committing. I wish that they had just let me know so I could have adjusted my post instead of immediately killing it.

When Newt Gingrich was Speaker, he kept a Tyrannosaurus Rex bones exhibit in his office to show off to everyone (on loan from the Smithsonian), and the word "Tyrannosaurus" means "Tyrannical Lizard". "Rex" means King. A Newt is a Lizard.

Also I was trying to figure out what the etymology of "Gingrich" may possibly mean, and it was difficult to find any origins to the word "ging". So this is what I came up with.

Ginger etymology = after 5 or so steps back, we come to Skt. "srngam" meaning "Horn".
Rich = Ruler, Powerful

Therefore Gingrich may possibly mean "Horned Ruler", and Outkast Searcher in chat suggested "Horny Ruler".

T = Tammuz an important figure in ancient Babylonia.

"Ishtar", which is pronounced "Easter" was a day that commemorated the resurrection of one of their gods that they called "Tammuz", who was believed to be the only begotten son of the moon-goddess and the sun-god.

This is kind of an aside, as I'm not a political scientist.

From what I understand, campaign funds are donated and used for campaigning. If one uses some of it for say paying bills not related to the campaign is that then illegal?

I just don't understand the laws in place (well I don't even know what they are).

Lets say that because you are campaigning, you aren't able to work. (leave alone the fact that most of them are rich enough to not have to work during this time). You still need food and other bills paid, is this illegal? Or is it a technical thing where a form needs to be used to say x amount went to food and mortgage (for example).

Can anyone clarify this (or more preferably, note the laws in place)?

"Horned King" Could be interpreted as Zeus, who was often depicted with Horns. And he was the king of the gods, or god of the gods. The Caesar was considered the king of kings (emperor.) Also Jesus was referred to as the 'king of kings'.

Some random poll put Newt and Mitt at a dead tie 30/30% and RP at 15%.
And then the anchor went to continue with "Although Ron Paul is in the lead in Iowa, everyone has been at one time or another"

But doesn't that mean the general populace has gone through the GOP base and rejected the rest?
