I don't know much about computer programs, so I am not exactly sure
HOW this happens, but I do know
WHY it happens.
The problem begins with the OP, and is bascially:
[color=FFE32E]The amount of replies per page VS. The amount of posts per page.
The amount of pages in a thread, is irrelevant for this issue.
I'm sure that most of us have noticed that some threads end up with some extremely long pages, from the top to the bottom, while most other threads'
pages remain fairly short. Often, it is due to the OP and/or other posts containing many images.
Regardless of how long or how short a single page is, each page has one thing in common:
[color=FFE32E]20 posts per page
The problem is simply that there is
[color=FFE32E]not 20 replies per page.(not every page anyways)
[color=FFE32E]Page 1 = OP + 19 Replies, and it throws the whole dam thing off.
The problem is only when the post you are going to, is the last post at the bottom of the page. For me, it is usually my own post, and I am either
editing it, or just going back to look at it. Also, the same problem arises when it is someone replying to me.
I'm sure it would probably be an easy fix, but it would have to be someone that not only knew how to fix it in the program, but they would also have
to care enough to do so. I'm gonna take a wild guess, and go ahead and say that finding someone [color=B3FFCF]who can & who cares, is not
gonna happen.
The way I get around it, is basically the same as DaveSpanners said:

.....only difference is that I'm too lazy to highlight 1 character in the middle, so I just highlight the entire 'page# + ID#'
from: "http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread784308/[color=FFC9CB]pg2#pid12978060"
to : "http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread784308/[color=FFC9CB]pg1"
....and just scroll down. Same thing lol, just easier to quickly highlight it
[color=C9E6FF]The error does not always take you to a blank page though. Sometimes, you may get the notification saying that someone replied to you,
but then after you click to go to that reply, it's just not there.
Random Example:
If the thread has 8 pages, and that reply is the last post at the bottom of page 5, when I click to go to that reply, I am automatically taken to the
top of page 6.
Awhile back, before I realized what actually caused the problem, there were times that I just thought there wasn't a reply to me, and the notification
system must have lied to me lol. I'm sure that there were some direct replies to me, that I did not read, because I didn't know that it was actually
at the bottom of the previous page.
Does that make sense?
The cause of the problem itself, is actually quite simple, but that doesn't mean that it is easy to explain.
