Often times when I view sites a window pops up and tells me that i can't correctly view the sites with active X and sometimes it will not stop poppig up. I can't find my security settings. I tried the run command regsvr32 softpub.dll and then it says that it was succesful right away and that is it.

How do I get to my security settings?
What is Active X?

Thanks.

I'm still having this problem on some website, but getting tired of this (and all the security holes & spyware problem) I installed the Firefox browser (mozilla.org) for alternative browsing solution, and I must say I am very please with it.

I can see all the sites I had activex problem and spywares don't install so easily on my system. Try it out.

(ActiveX is a scripting language used on Websites)

The security settings for Active X in IE are under:

Internet Options | Security.

ActiveX is a technology which lets developers create programs that run inside your web browser (and other things).

People who have heard of COM or OLE... ActiveX is the same sort thing. Just the technology has had different terms over the years.

It sounds like I should just leave things the way they are. There was this one site with some awesome pictures of Janis Joplin that I had never seen before, but the security thing was popping up non stop. guess it was doing a good job.
