So back then in 1999, I was a freshman in high school, taking everything for granted, living life without consequence and what-not... I was just now having a nostalgic moment of that time and decided to listen to some of my favorite songs back then - when I noticed how songs back then are so true to this day and ironic.

I started listening to Smashing Pumpkins song 1979, and then remembered about the band Fear Factory. I dug up the album I had back then on YouTube and played the song Securitron. I read the lyrics while I had it playing and realized how the lyrics tell the current state of my country - the United States of America. I love my country, but there is no denying of how screwed up it has become.

It's pretty scary that this song back in 1998, is so accurate at this very moment. Here are the lyrics and song:

Invade and encompass to judge and dissect
Witness and persecute to serve and protect
To serve, and protect to serve
To serve, and protect to serve

Watchful and aware, contrain every movement
Admit the consequences, freedom's an illusion
Where is security governed through scrutiny?
Your privacy denied, organized and confined!
No place to hide! No place to hide!

There is no place to hide
Plugged in your mind
Conformed design

To concede your rights
Concede your mind
Surrender to authority

"All must abide and all must adhere"
Future oppression becoming more clear T
his is a warning so you must take heed
This coming vision is reality

Where is security governed through scrutiny?
Your privacy denied, organized and confined!
No place to hide
No place to hide...

After that, I jumped to Prodigy's album Fat of the Land and noticed that Keith Flint is wearing an American flag outfit. Now, listen to the lyrics and put it into the perspective of the United State's foreign policy - fire starter much?

Don't forget about all the Rage Against the Machine songs! Anyway, just some food for thought - oh and today's music sucks...

I always thought System of a Down's song Jet Pilot was "interesting" as the album was released on Sept 9th 2011. But now that I'm older I don't believe what the media fed us when it happened. Whole other topic and thread there!

Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay,
Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay.

My horse, is a shackled old man,
His, his remorse, was that he couldn't survey,
The skies, right before,
Right before they went gray,
My horse and my remorse,
Flying over a great bay

Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay,
Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay.

My, source, is the source of all creation,
Her, discourse, is that we all don't survey
The skies, right before,
Right before they go gray,
My source, and my remorse,
Flying over a great bay,

Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay,
Wired were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay
Where were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay,
Where were the eyes of a horse on a jet pilot,
One that smiled when he flew over the bay.

Maybe not so much in the lyrics of Firestarter, but I thought it was funny he's wearing an American flag outfit while saying "I'm a firestarter".

I've had 6 shots of espresso, and I might be delusional.

There are generations that agree with you...but at the same time disagree with you...get it?

I ran into a guy today who had never heard of Pink Floyd.

But music usually has a message. Keep listening.

Ha, yeah I never realized that. Sure is weird that back then, that I never once applied lyrics of songs into reality. Maybe I was too young or naive. I miss 1998-2000.

Obviously why he can't navigate. Put a beatdown on that punk.
