Should I be worried? I was talking to my sister who's alone and very ill. She doesn't have the internet or watch t.v., so I was trying, delicately, to tell her about the upcoming presidential race. As soon as it was out of my mouth, the line disconnected. I called her right back, but she thought the trouble was on my end. Seeing as how we're now in a police state, I'll be expecting that knock/battering-ram/swat team to be at my door. Teach ME to open my big mouth, again. America...now I'm calling it Usuckistan.

I think it's just a coincidence that you got disconnected, but then again, I don't know exactly what you were talking about. And it is true that cell phones are being monitored now.

Although I have to say, you totally sound like my boyfriend! The other day he was rambling on about how anything we say or do is monitored. I tried to ease his paranoia by reminding him that he's not important enough in the scheme of things to be personally monitored or to be seen of as a threat (sure, I don't know that for a fact... but it eased his paranoia a bit). And in a half serious, half joking way he said, "Well, when they come by and throw a bag over my head to take me away... I won't have to say I told you so!"

It's only funny cuz my boyfriend is a very big guy - so it would take at least 5 strong men to take him anywhere. xP

You didn't finish it with, "...is a one term president"

That will fix the problem.

I've ranted over the phone before...usually intoxicated.

Also over the interwebbs...here at ATS especially.

Still going strong and fighting the good fight.

I think its probably coincidence too.

But this is a good opportunity to point out -- the real way that a police state gets established is not that the police go around enforcing the rules for each individual...obviously that would be impossible and given finite resources even TPTB can only directly police a tiny fraction of the populace. No, the real way a police state gets traction is by people policing themselves in their own minds, out of fear. You give in to fear, you give up to TPTB and open you skull to their poison like opening a door and inviting in a guest. Don't give in to fear.

I've even had detailed conversations about how the US military would respond if the entire country rose up against the government.

I think perhaps you are just a bit paranoid. Calls drop like that sometimes. It's happened to me before but always randomly.

Understandable enough, except that we were on land lines. Thanks for the morale boosts, everyone!

I blurted out Obama's name, three times, in from of a mirror once and I ended up having a nightmare that night.
Barack, Michelle and Michelle's Mom can be a scary sight.

Hmmm. That actually happened to me last night. Cant say for sure what we were talking about, but we were talking about some stuff. Phone went dead and then dropped the call.

I'd definitely vote coincidence myself, Perhaps 20 years ago, something noticable might have been on the line to let you know anything was even happening, but not now. It's all just being copied out a different digital routing like anything else, right out of the telecommunications offices themselves.

It's a heck of a way to tell you not to worry about it....but it's true.
If you really tripped a keyword flag, you wouldn't know anything about it until someone showed up at your door to ask for a bit more elaboration on whatever got their interest. Welcome to 21 Century America.

only takes one man to put a gun to your head and that big boyfriend of yours wont seem so big anymore...
they are beyond anything we think

I was actually looking into this cause somebody said that there website had disappeared from the internet. They blamed the feds, but after just a little research it turned up, Homeland Security.

The funny thing is though, when they called up the Domain host, it still showed as active, so DHS has a way of making things disappear.

I know we're not supposed to do one liners...

But wow. Just wow. That's a bit vicious.

Um, anyway back on topic... You never know, may have been a subject of a roving wiretap that somehow interrupted the connection when a key word was used.
But seriously, the DHS "list" grows every day and almost nothing would surprise me regarding random surveillances. Or it was just a coincidence as others have said.

Who says that I think I'm invincible? Just because I don't constantly live in fear that someone from the government is going to show up at my door with a gun? I don't go around saying negative things about the government... what on earth would they want with me?

Also, I never said they wouldn't go to those lengths. What I said is that the other day I had to reassure my boyfriend of the same thing that the OP is worried about.

And wait, what? I'd be at the top of the list? Top of the list of what?

And I can't resist, but where do you get off making these assumptions about me based on absolutely nothing?

I agree with you stopmakingsense

xFloggingMaryx no offense meant...

but having a bag pulled over your head and forceably taken out of your home to god knows where in the middle of the night is pretty damn vicious too...

I know from experience having a gun pointed at you completely 100% takes away any sense of power you may have... Having that cold cobalt steel restin' tween' your eyes, puts a difference perspective on things...

"Yes I will do what you say Mr. Nice Gunman
