Breaking:Satellite gets pic of Chinese Carrier

DENVER (AP) — A commercial U.S. satellite company said it has captured a photo of China's first aircraft carrier in the Yellow Sea off the Chinese coast.
DigitalGlobe Inc. said Wednesday one of its satellites photographed the carrier Dec. 8. A DigitalGlobe analyst found the image Tuesday while searching through photos.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, i am sure everyone was well aware of the building process of this but now it is in action. China insists it is only intended for research and training but I'm sure we all can use our own two sense and fathom what the real meaning behind this all is. I feel in general that they deserve this as they are a nation like us. Why does the US feel as if they can be the only country in the world with high power weapons? hmm..

First you say they are "like us" then you ask "why the US..."

Seems a bit like a type mismatch to me

I don't know about you guys, but this new private intel company scares me a bit.

They pop up out of nowhere with enough money to launch satelites with advanced optics.

It could be a public arm of the NSA, putting out pics they don't want to be associated with.

This carrier was far from a secret, it's been public since they first bought it years ago.

They even bought ground based catapults and arresting gear to train their pilots on land before they try to land at sea.

Getting it underway was the easy part, getting it combat ready is a whole different ballgame. It will be at least 5 years before it is deployable, maybe even 10.
