had hoped that Obama would truly be different, regrettably i was wrong.

what with the NDAA & SOPA passing i really don't know what to say to you Americans, other than good luck & hope that somebody can step up & make REAL change in America & especially in American politics, the two party system you currently have has from the outset been doomed to fail because all it does is breed career politicians which is one of the biggest problems.

Confirmed liberal here. You're completely and utterly wrong about Obama's disagreement with the detention of citizens.

He wanted to make sure, and this has been confirmed multiple times all over the place, that he didn't want a regulation that forced him to compromise an ongoing investigation or interrogation, which the requirement to use military detention would. He wanted that wording eliminated so he, or the office, could choose to continue FBI or other work before the military option.

There is nothing, repeat, nothing in the bill that reaffirms the rights of any accused US citizens. Analysis skills much greater than mine would be required to really know for sure what degrade of those rights are enclosed here, but Obama did not go to bat for our rights on this one. He went to bat to protect the war powers provisions that allow him to fight "the war on terror."

I voted for Obama, and I'm undecided on voting for him again but haven't ruled it out. Spinning this debacle of a bill into Obama fighting for our rights is absolute garbage though, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if you support the President or wish he was gone, this part of the bill is garbage, as was every bill that allowed for this decline of US rights since 9/11.

This wasn't (R) vs. (D). This was massive governmental failure.

I can't believe people are still slinging party label nonsense at each other WHEN BOTH PARTIES DID THEIR PART TO ENSURE THIS GETS PASSED. OMG my head is going to explode.

Someone round up all the lawyers in the country, line them up against the wall and unload their clips on them (j/k of course). And while you are at it lets get on a time machine and go to the creator of Legalese language and shoot his granpapi in the bolas. 900 pages really? That's just nonsense.

The constitutional concern is on pages 426-430. Note that on page 430, if is clear where is says that no US citizen or illegal resident will fall under these guidlines accept for acceptions under paragraph 1 which requires only a written request to congress to detain any person that has national security issues. Hmm, funny chit!

OK this 1867 Bill sounds like it will not be vetoed by our POTUS. It is more of the same for the last 30 to 40 years and our rights and liberties have been corroded by both the Rebublicans and Democrats with varying Executive Orders and bills submitted to both the House and Senate.

This my friends is where you decide will ANY of the candidates even consider reestablishing our government and liberties back to it Constitutional intent?

Only one will.... He is consistant and he has not wavered in his intent. He has even warned us over 30 years ago and is motivated to return our government back into OUR hands and not those of Government/Corporatists and Lobbiests and those of you who know, the NWO -- Who ever and whatever they may represent.

Unfortunately, and not to sound like a bummer or anything, but what makes you believe that he won't have a "heart attack" once he gets signed in? Hate to sound like that but I think the only way things are going to change is if whole systems are demolished by the people en mass, and replaced by ones that take all factors into play. We need to come together, throw out all assumptions and come up with new ideas.

OK, anything is possible...Aliens, Chinese, Planet of the Apes...whatever man. He probably knows the risks and still he is taking the chance to help recover our nation in spite of the odds. He sure isn't doing it for the money and corporations!

What say you? Are you going to help him with the remaining system of our government or continue to postulate and guess what could happen so you can say "I told you so!"

Oh I agree, cause we don't live in a bi-partisan system. To believe that would be delusional considering the amount of division in this country amongst it citizens. Want to know something funny though, the politicians do live in a bi-partisan world because they equally take in money for their own benefit regardless of party label. So who has the last laugh? The jokes on people that believe their label can do no harm while "the other side" can do no good.

Now if you said "people still believe bi-partisanship is possible are either.." I would still agree (though probably for different reasons) because of the very nature of the system we have in place. But make no mistake about it extreme partisanship leads you down the road to extremism. The very nature of labeling yourself puts you in a trap.

This is the master stroke in full swing by the NWO and not even the final card

Time to kick the tires and ligh the fires, I can only speak for myself but i wont be going down without a fight. Knew this was coming but not this soon, the violent oppression and unconstitutional violation of the protesters at OWS was absulute confirmation. One again it will be brother against brother... dying time is here

This is it! The straw that broke the camels back. These monsters actually think all that money and power makes them immortal. They are about to find out their true mortality. Now things are going to get real ugly. Ie here in the USA " new homeleand of the fourth Reich" watch history repeat itself. You may very well have to fight for your own lives against this tyranny if it succeeds with us "the people" because it wont stop with us. They all ready want to add the entire world to the manifesto people.

This is so disheartening how did it come to this? Why have my own countrymen condemned themselves to be doomed? I will never understand the foolhardy, greedy, narcissistic traitors of my own species. I only understand now that it is us or them.

It is a matter of time until it is enforced and it is then there will be civil unrest and much death. Detention centers in Antarctica, that's a one way trip. That makes no sense is obviously a death camp. The logistics of it is impractical unless you are disposing of something and don't want anyone to see.

Internment has always been used from time to time, in the UK and the US, and whenever it suits. Anybody voting for that bill know full well that the vast majority of internees have been totally innocent of anything, just that their face didn't fit. Lincoln did it, (even for political leverage, especially so) Roosevelt did it, most notably to the American Japanese. Even the American indians had it done to them, and it is their country!

Uk did it, most recently in Northern Ireland what a fiasco that turned out to be.

Still, at least those that signed up for this bill, will be happy to know that they are safe

I hear you brother and I understand where you are coming from. As most probably know by now I voted for him in 2007 and will probably vote for him again. Doesn't mean I cannot analyse past that point (after the actual election) and look to history for reference, and all examples points to bad news for him personally. Very pessimistic I know, but there are no saviors in life and no one man regardless of his standing character will be able to change that.

I think putting more sanctions on Iran (regrettably the right thing to do) is going to cause a brain drain over there. It happened in Iraq too. The smart people will see that the situation is deteriorating and they will leave. This has happened over and over. And then the people that might have had cool heads will be gone. Eventually, the situation will collapse into war and poverty. UNLESS the leadership changes fast enough to encourage the smart people to stay.

Iran is being stupid right now. LITERALLY. It's getting dumber...

Not much to say anymore except "one foot on a banana peel and the other in a revolution.

I just hope that those that are ready to fight for freedom are as prepared as the progressive socialist that have brought our country to this point only being 24% of the population of America.
