Conspiracies of Antarctica.

Antarctica I would say is the last “frontier” on earth. One filled with mystery and subzero weather. But was Antarctica always a frozen tundra? Could there have been a ancient civilization that use to live on that continent? Could it be the lost city of Atlantis? Below is a map from 1519 and the land mass of Antarctica with now ice.



Antarctica and the Nazis

In 1938-1939 The Nazis suddenly became interested in Antarctica. Submarines became the means to travel to Antarctica. From what information we have, we know there was at least two expeditions cutting out a small section of Antarctica and calling it Neuschwabenland. It was said the German scientist discovered ice-free lakes heated by volcanic features. It was believed that the Nazis were there to establish a base known as station 211. It was said in 1942 Heinrich Himmler created a special unit called the Antarktische Siedlungnsfrauen or Antarctic Settlement Women. They consisted of woman between the ages of 17 and 24, all tall, slender blue-eyed blond hair and all stunning. It was said they were shipped to Neuschwabenland after training in Estonia, on a peninsula near Ristna on Hiiumaa Island in the Baltic Sea. There they learned fishing, housekeeping skills and courses in polar survival.



In 1943 Grand Admiral Karl Dontiz was quoted saying “Germany's submarine fleet is proud that it created an unassailable fortress for the Führer on the other end of the world.”


As the documents and conspiracies go Wilhelm Bernhard, a commander of U-530 Left port of kiel on April 13 1945, a month before VE day (victory in Europe day) the Sub allegedly contained relics of the Third Reich including Hitler’s documents and personal stuff heading to Neuschwabenland. The part I find questionable was the submarines also received passengers who faces were hidden behind surgical bands? Could one of these be Hitler after receiving plastic surgery?

Its also note worthy that their is no proof the Russians ever had Hitler’s body.

3 weeks after world war II the United States set sail to Antarctica with 3,500 marines and many ships including helicopters and a aircraft carrier. This operation was called ”Operation High Jump”. Now why would the united states go to Antarctica 3 weeks after the war ended, with Europe in ruins, and participate in a “winter training exercises” and “test equipment in frigid conditions”? Could there be a connection with Neuschwabenland, the Nazis, and operation high jump?

Lake Vostok and the Magnetic Anomaly

Lake Vostok is located beneath Russia's Vostok Station 2.5 miles below the icy surface. The surface of this fresh water lake is approx 4,000 m (13,100 ft) under the surface of the ice, which places it at approx 500 m (1,600 ft) below sea level. Measuring 250 km (160 mi) long by 50 km (30 mi) wide at its widest point, and covering an area of 15,690 km2 (6,060 sq mi), it is similar in area to Lake Ontario, but with over three times the volume. The average depth is 344 m (1,129 ft). It has an estimated volume of 5,400 km3 (1,300 cu mi).[4] The lake is divided into two deep basins by a ridge. The liquid water over the ridge is about 200 m (700 ft), compared to roughly 400 m (1,300 ft) deep in the northern basin and 800 m (2,600 ft) deep in the southern.

Located in the northern end of the lakes coast there is an extremely powerful “magnetic anomaly” The size of the anomaly is 65 x 46 square miles! A geological team says the anomaly’s size and severity points to a thinning of the earth crust in that location but that’s not the strange part.

In 2003 NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory was monitoring lake Vostok and this is what a supposed NATO official said

“You know, they have classified Lake Vostok. They took it away from JPL who were monitoring it. Are you familiar with Lake Vostok in Antarctica? Under the ice in Antarctica there is a fresh-water lake deep, deep down under the ice, that’s 100 miles long and 50 miles wide. Fresh water. The temperature in the damn lake is about 65 degrees, which is pleasant swimming, you might say.

“But at the end of Lake Vostok is what’s known as a gigantic masscon—a mass concentration of metal, very similar to the masscons they discovered on the Moon — a gigantic, circular-shaped, metallic object deep under the ice at the end of Lake Vostok. The National Security Agency took it away from JPL. It’s one of the most sensitive things in the world now, the anomaly at the end of the lak. It’s now classified, top secret.”

Who knows if the stories are real, from what i read after that was NASA took high orbit radar imagies of the lake, the NSA later came out and said publicly that the Images that NASA took of the lake Vostok anomaly where classified and “ a matter of national security”. Again, who know, i cant find the artical i read many years back on the subject so i cant back up this quote.

From what I read on lake Vostok, the Russians only need to drill another 50 meters in order to reach the lake but had to leave due to the Antarctic winter arriving. Its said they will begin drilling again in December 2011 to complete the last 50 meters. The Russian team also plans to send a underwater robot into the lake to collect water samples. Note, the Russian base is on the complete other side of the lake where the magnetic “anomaly” is.

Again, who knows if the storys are real. It’s all he said she said stuff but it makes you wonder.

Really, what did the reporter have to say about the military base? I think there is alot of stuff going on down there that we dont know about.

It was more than 4 years ago however he was a CNN or Fox large network reporter sent to Antarctica to do a story on the genetics and viral labs there and even though he was allowed on the base he was not allowed to leave his room or the mess area. Effectively the way the story went was he was authorized to do a story but the stonewalled him as to their purpose etc. It got me thinking that Antarctica as isolated as it is would be the perfect top secret testing area for any number of projects.

You raise a very valid point. Such a vast and isolated area, it's a potential government playground! Wouldnt surprise me if they had some area 51 type thing up there...

I really enjoy threads about Nazi conspiracies and Antarctica so thanks for yours. I'm just a little confused about the link between the Nazi exploration of the Antarctic (South pole) and Lake Vostok? If Lake Vostok is under Russia it's near the Arctic (North Pole) nowhere near the south pole where the Nazis went?

Admiral Birds Diary is another extremely strange story of what he saw down their and he never returned from his last expedition if my memory serves me well - just Google it - there's a whole host of strange and weird goings on down their.

Has anyone ever seen images of the whole of Antarctica from space? I sure haven't been able to find any, and I have always wondered if the entire thing was in fact covered in ice. If I remember correctly, Google Earth does not show the pole area. I have heard that it is nearly impossible to get photographs of this area because of the orbits of the satellites, but I do not know if that is true.

I too have always thought Op. HJ was very peculiar. It is almost obvious it is so out of place. I would love to know what they found. There could have been a major battle on the continent that we have never heard about. Surely out of all the men who went on the mission, someone would have spilled the beans by now.

They may have talked, to family members and such, but the stories just never got passed on to someone willing to post them online. OR, someone may have posted information online, which was deemed as a hoax and forgotten, left to freeze, isolated in a far corner of the internet. This is all speculation mind you, but I believe the operation involved looking for a Nazi base.

They Nazis had plenty of time to build a base on Antarctica, but I wonder if it was just a makeshift type base, above-ground and not too impressive. OR, and more interestingly, maybe they built a huuuge underground complex on the continent, designed so that no one could ever find it. I do not know if they could have moved the necessary building materials, machinery, and equipment to pull off such a grand task.

Especially using only U-boats. There is no way. Also, I don't believe that Hitler ever came out of his bunker in Berlin after locking himself and his staff inside it as the allies encircled the city. Some of the evidence is questionable, but it does make sense. I believe that there were, and don't quote me on this, actual dna tests done on the bodies or pieces of bones left-over, carried out by the Russians...They allegedly were confirmed to be those of Hitler and his wife, and they were subsequently cremated; destroyed.

If the eyewitnesses were lying however, he easily could have slipped away had he wanted to. I remember hearing theories about him flying out with the distinguished female pilot Hannah Reitsch, a die-hard National Socialist who was relatively close to Hitler, despite her vehemently denying this till her death many years later. She would never have talked anyway, had she transported Hitler out of Berlin. She believed in Hitler on a scale that is hard to comprehend now, as evidenced by her comments during an interview done when she was very old and near death. She said something along the lines of her only regret is that Germany lost the war.

I mean he did supposedly get married immediately before committing suicide, so what was the point of that? I am sure most people in that position would have at least attempted to escape, and he likely would have succeeded considering other high-ranking Nazis managed to get away. He may have been TOO important to the war to slip away and blend in somewhere else, and although I know plastic surgery had been used on disfigured soldiers' faces after WWI, I do not know how mainstream or effective it was during those years. Lots of questions, and very few definitive answers. I am so used to it, lol.

I can answer the ice part at least - i was watching a random documentary a couple of weeks ago about climate, etc, and they were in par of the Antarctic that thaws every year - you can see grass and moss, etc. Now don't get me wrong, it didn't look like somewhere you would want to settle but i guess the point is that there are places down there that are not totally ice bound.

Okay, there is a renowned Cambridge Journal called "Polar Record".


Do a search about "Hitler", giving you some real experts views about Queen-Maud-Land, Highjump etc.

Men from the Special Air Services Regiment (SAS), Britain's covert forces for operating behind the lines, appeared to be involved. In July and August 1945, after the German surrender, two U-boats arrived in Argentina. Had they been to Antarctica to land Nazi treasure or officials? In the southern summer of 1946–1947, the US Navy appeared to ‘invade’ Antarctica using a large force. The operation, code-named Highjump, was classified confidential. In 1958, three nuclear weapons were exploded in the region, as part of another classified US operation, code-named Argus. Given the initial lack of information about these various activities, it is not, perhaps, surprising that some people would connect them to produce a pattern in which governments would be accused of suppressing information about ‘what really happened’, and would use these pieces of information to construct a myth of a large German base existing in Antarctica and of allied efforts to destroy it. Using background knowledge of Antarctica and information concerning these activities that has been published since the early 1940s, it is demonstrated: that the two U-Boats could not have reached Antarctica; that there was no secret wartime German base in Dronning Maud Land; that SAS troops did not attack the alleged German base; that the SAS men in the region at the time had civilian jobs; that Operation Highjump was designed to train the US Navy for a possible war with the Soviet Union in the Arctic, and not to attack an alleged German base in Antarctica; and that Operation Argus took place over the ocean more than 2000 km north of Dronning Maud Land. Activities that were classified have subsequently been declassified and it is no longer difficult to separate fact from fancy, despite the fact that many find it attractive not to do so.

Fazit: Forget the myth about Neuschwabenland etc.

High jump was an interesting opereration, Also, it should be noted that Operation High Jump was originally organized by Secretary of the Navy, James Forrestal. But later, in 1949, then Secretary of Defense Forrestal "committed suicide" ,or as some speculate was killed because he knew too much and was going to spill the beans on the real events surrounding Operation High Jump
