How would you know what we commonely associate as fiction is not reality, and what we think of reality is not really fiction? Have you been to the pentagon lately? What is the purpose behind confidential, secret and top secret?

And please don't say to protect our national security from terrorists in the middle east. That might have a grain or two of truth to it, but in all likelyhood it goes way beyond that. Hollywood could not have such incredible imaginations with no help. It is pretty evident they have insider information from somewhere and it ain't from me either.

You use the phrase "Use common sense" and then you disregard it by say the government is creating movies for the people to let us in on their Top Secret stuff....hmmm kinda defeats the whole purpose of keeping things Top Secret...

There are people in this world who have great imaginations and use it to create entertainment...to say there aren't is not using common sense.

The rational will tell you...the stuff in Hollywood is fictional and comes from the creative mind.(although a lot of the stuff in there is a rip off from another..:lol.

The irrational will tell us that there is no way that Hollywood is that creative...it has to be from the government or inside knowledge.

Explain to me how it's any different. Bright planet passes through, bright planet has a dark spot and a flare develop on its path of motion every day, which resets when a new day begins.

You can believe whatever you want. It honestly makes no difference to me! Don't you find it ironic though that more and more things that were once thought of as science fiction turnout to be science fact? It is not like mainstream science stops evolving.

Humans can't evolve from a physical perspective, but our minds do. It is a matter of making secret knowledge public knowledge. Latter I got run and do some chores for now.........

The dynamic range is incredible. It's no wonder that so much processing is required to pull a usable jpg or png image out of this:

Exactly. Not only is the dynamic range absolutely massive, but so too is the glare from the sun. You can't even see the tenuous features of the heliosphere until you do some very heavy processing to subtract that from the image. Nonetheless, I'm a big fan of just the raw images by themselves; they show you what you'd actually see if you were a fly on the side of the spacecraft (minus CCD blooming, etc, of course). It's a far more natural look at space.

Yes, that is what it is. As phage explained, it's an artifact of processing the images with what I like to call "pseudo-dark frames" using the images taken on previous days. It's not present at all when you use the raw, original, unprocessed fits files. It happens every time a bright planet passes through the field of view. For instance, here's the same thing happening as Venus passed through the HI-1 of STEREO ahead in march, but because it was moving in the opposite direction (left to right), the artifact appeared on the opposite side (with an additional large circular lens flare effect on the left side as well which always happens with Venus):

Setting aside for the moment the fact that you don't even understand what we're actually describing (it's not a "lens" artifact), let me give you another example using Mercury again, this time from December 22nd, 2009. Look at this sequence, start of the day the "spaceship" isn't there, by the end of the day it's there and so is a CME.

No - disinfo agents is a good term for people who put forth information that is patently not true, and then swear black and blue that it is, refuse to countenance any information that contradicts it, and keep repeating the falsehoods time after time without any apology for misleading people.

It's not at all a good term for people who do, actually, deny ignorance.
