You all got me interested. First thing that comes to mind when I hear of objects all headed same direction together are balloons/lanterns. Is this what was witnessed?

Nice find

Seems to sum it up.

Still curious, yet nothing more heard from the OP.

Springer wont' be home until this afternoon. He has the video in his inbox. But the one found on youtube is much better. The one I have is just all jiggly and you can't tell much (other than the same lights are seen in it briefly).

No, I did not see it. I started getting text messages from friends up in the Norman area who saw it. The youtube video posted looks like lanterns to me as well.

I normally roll my eyes at skeptics who usually shout 'chinese lanterns' or 'swamp gas' immediately! But in this instance I think they are 100% correct.

Also, I asked how many people at this point had seen it...response was "about a 1/3 of Norman I guess".

There is a popular bar on Boyd called The Library, and everyone there saw it. That's a lot of people.

Here's what I want to know. What was 1/3 of the population of Norman, OK doing in a bar?

Oh man, you'll eventually learn it's best not to ask. When I was dating my wife we got in an argument and she went out and bought a lighter that said "If NASA can send a man to the moon, then why not all of them?"
We still got married (20 years now) and have wonderful daughters, but being around that many women all the time I've learned the art of keeping my mouth shut

I live just to the east of these sightings, I wonder which direction they were travelling, what time did it occur, what color were they, because ill be looking tonight for any strange anomilies. thanks for the post. Only reason ill be looking is because sometimes they (Ufo's) sometimes come back to the same locations night after night. Fingers crossed, ill have my camera ready to, along with my Night Vision, I just hope they return, I would love to see and capture 20-30 objects of Unknown origin

So was the Youtube video posted live from a droid? If so the time is it correct? I mean to say if it is possible that these were launched after the fact or the sighting, then we still need to dig deeper for answers. Also were the lanterns set off at the same place as the sightings?

I do so want for this to be UFO related but am expecting a big let down once again...

I have seen the same thing a few summers ago while camping. But I only saw about 3 or 4 but not many. But what was odd was about 10-15 minutes before I saw them I heard C-130 flying in that same direction. Then about 10-15 later I after I saw the lights disappear I heard the C-130 come back. Weird.

Norman is a college town. Right across the street from the Library (the bar name) is the OU campus ( you can throw a rock from the Library and hit the OU Music Center ) and Campus Corner which has about 10-15 bars. They've added a few since I went to school there.

LMAO! I think you combined two statements there. lol I took the "1/3 of Norman" as a tongue-in-cheek to indicate a butt-load of people. But all of them were not at the bar.

lol...although, OU is a pretty hardy party school, so...they could've been.

I will tell you that I spoke to one of the people who saw the objects last night and told them that there had been a rumor that Chinese lanterns were released from some event at OU.

They said "bull****".

Anyway, they live in Norman and have heard nothing of that yet. Also, they took issue with the idea they were lanterns because contrary to how they look in the video(s), they were described by more than one person as "extremely bright".

I still lean toward the lantern story being the explanation IF we can find some proof that release did occur last night. I'm basing that on the fact that the objects were not described by anyone I know of as moving real fast, and because they were going in the same direction as the wind. However, we really just need to get some firm confirmation of the lantern release and that would solve all of this right quick, I believe.

I emailed Springer and asked him to just a little bit ago. He has it. I don't have it. It came to his email account. I watched it last night but didn't know if a 3gp or whatever the hell the format was would upload so I left it for him to do.

The whole Chinese lantern idea might be feasible if it occurred anyone else but not in Oklahoma, and definitely not this time of year. We have wind here that can knock a person down without even trying. Anyone who's lived or been in Oklahoma can tell you this.

Flying a kite is dangerous cause you might be sucked up into the atmosphere
.

Don't believe me, load up some NCAA football and pick the OU Stadium and check out the wind speed. Norman, Oklahoma is known for it's fierce wind that the game developers put it into the game feature for when you play at the OU stadium.

I use to hate walking to class during winter time because I would have to hunch forward as I walked, otherwise I'd be knocked over. And the wind penetrates the clothes, it gets to the bone, it really sucks lol, but the fall and spring times are the best, though lately they have only lasted 2 weeks at a time but that's another story.

Unless Chinese lanterns can stand 30+ mph winds with no problem then maybe its possible, but I have yet to see this whenever I've been around Chinese lanterns. Also, if there were several launched you'd expect a few of them to get tossed around floating wildly in the air, but in the video they all seem to be functioning perfectly, a little too perfectly seeing how they're made out of paper.

So I cannot except the idea that these were Chinese lanterns. Of the 15+ years I've lived here I've seen the wind knock over people, light posts, and cars ( there was no tornado, just wind ). But I wont exclude it as a possibility but if it was lanterns then where were they launched from and who launched them?

As for the 1/3 of Norman seeing this, it can be possible, Norman is a party school and the Library is one of about 10+ bars located in the area. With the bars and the campus right next to each other, that's probably half the population of Norman
.
