This is is simply EVIL. Many moons ago I was put on this poison when I was wrongly diagnosed as being bi-polar. The psyche assured me the only side effect would be 'a slight tremor that would barely be visible when I carried a cup and saucer.' I kid you not.

Anyway, my hair fell out en masse, my fillings and my teeth started to fall out, I came out in boils, and the weight gain hmmm. Not only does lithium put weight on - it alters where the weight distributes itself around the body....so I started to grow jowls and was shaped like an egg. ( I'm actually 5'8' and slender.)

You have to get your blood tested to 'ensure you are at therapeutic levels'. I think the stuff occurs naturally in the body at a level of 0.000000001ml/l - the therapeutic dose is between 0.5 - 1.5ml/l. Any smart aleks out there care to work out the percentage increase on that? Side effects include coma and death.

Anyhow my dose hadn't reached 'therapeutic levels' when I went to see the psyche and get the blood test - because I stopped taking the poison. (You can even taste that it's poison in your mouth.)

The doc asked me why I wasn't taking it and I explained to him about the hair and tooth loss, the boils, the weird weight gain - oh and the stammer....and asked him what the side effects of arsenic were.

I then explained to him that lithium is number 3 on the Periodic Table of Elements. That makes it the third oldest element in the universe. They make batteries out of it and use it to stabilize nuclear warheads in transit. I said to the psyche, 'I know I've got a bit of a temper but it's not that bad.'

It would be a crime against humanity to put this toxin in drinking water. There are NO positives with this stuff - it's POISON plain and simple.

Maybe TPTB got this mixed up while reading the Declaration of Independance. Thinking the pursuit of happiness was delegated to be provided by the government.

Why can't they just quit adding crap to our food and water? We don't need that kind of "help".

Currently, thyroid damage (in both genders) is epidemic to the point of being more common to have it than not have it -- most undiagnosed. This is hugely tied into the obesity epidemic no pun intended. As this has major hormonal effects and influences metabolic disease, it is most likely tied to everything else, of course -- from male pattern baldness to cancer and depression.

Flourine and Bromine (non-radioactived inorganic Iodine used to be in flours, but was replaced with bromine several decades ago) store in the thyroid in place of the iodine most people are severely long-term deficient in now (google for more). (Note: iodine is used in every cell of the body, it just is 'stored' in the thyroid. Possibly because that's a detox center.) These chems are toxic beyond trace amounts, and don't be fooled by what a trace amount is when you are talking about something that accumulates in the body.

We are all walking bundles of heavy metal low-dose chronic poisoning thanks to tap water and everything it's used in, on, and for. And taking a hot shower in fluoridated water is especially bad. You can spend a good chunk of money and hope your water filter for drinking gets at least some of it but most people can't un-flouridate the shower or escape that.

Flouridated water is also a flouride "compound" which is to say it's a lot of whatever someone wants in it, not just flouride. (Probably 20 years ago I was reading of one chem, I think an aluminum derivative, that was used to make cows more passive and fat, and that was in there, sounds like population control to me. I don't know if that is still the case, or was ever true, or if the 'compound' varies in every place it is implemented.) The type of fluoride used isn't even the form that's naturally occurring in the regions with strong teeth resulting -- it's like some terrible joke by morons, played on the population -- fluoride, like salt or rust, has a ton of different "forms".

Is that picture really the guy? My god. Run, don't walk.

Whats really sad is once it becomes a government mandate to add addititives to the countries public drinking water the states cant trump it with votes, because government mandate trumps state mandate. only a series of united states can petition to overrule the mandate. isnt it funny that the only way to fight the governments dictatorship is by becoming a "United states"?

So they're back at it.

Check the archives here - there was a movement to get lithium added to US water a while ago, and maybe Europe too. They might have done it secretly. Who knows? ....We're already drinking pharmaceutical soup...

Yes Hitler was once quoted that he believed the flouride in the water supply made germany's people more placid.

How is this not dangerous? This is a drug that if you take, they have to take blood from you on a regular basis to make sure it does not build up in your system and become toxic.

All these people having it go into their system will not be getting blood tests done regularly. It seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Precisely why I NEVER drink water. I stick to diet green tea with ginsing, the super rare Sprite (soda) or a fruit smoothie.

IF I have to drink the stuff, I'll buy Fiji water and even then, that's a once a year thing IF that.

Well, where do you think they get the water used in those beverages? They use municipal water supplies like everyone else. On extremely rare occasions, they use advanced filtering systems, but more often than not, it's the same as pulling it straight from your tap.

its good to avoid public water but you have to consider most things that are store bought needed water to be created bread for example.

If true, this dude is insane! Maybe he should take some Lithium. I don't trust ANY psych drug unless it's for a confirmed diagnoses and the drug administered is closely monitored....there is NO reason it should be mass administered. This sounds unreal, but nothing surprises me anymore....

I'll crank this Lithium up instead...been a while since I heard it ...RIP Kurt

I'd much rather have Lithium in the water than Fluoride. I understand some of you would argue that PURE water is best and you are correct but we ARE talking about something much less harmful than Flouride and in "trace amounts"

"Happy water" sounds good to me if it truly reduces suicides, a benefit that I feel outweighs the rare-but-possible side-effects (which looks like any other side-effect list BTW).

lithium has NO business being put in anything, or anyone...."trace" amounts can still be deadly, because nobody knows...or is willing to say what a safe level/dose is....we're not bi-polar....we don't need psych meds....and we damn sure don't need to be poisoned...any kind of doctor that says we need anything of the sort in our water supply, needs to be shot for wanting to do such a thing...they have to "practice" medicine, because they don't know what the # they're doing....that's why they're all incompetent quacks

Lithium is not a happy pill - it's a mood stabilizer. You may not feel sad...but you won't feel happy either...nor will you feel excited or enthusiastic about anything. You will be NUMB...and you will be placid.

Emotions make us human. I want to keep mine.

Oh yeah - another wee side effect - it destroys the minds creativity.

Yeah yeah I get all that, but we need to pick our battles here and getting Fluoride OUT is far more important than preventing trace amounts of Lithium from getting IN.

Priorities people. This is like getting upset @ Janet Jacksons nipple showing whilst ignoring starvation around the word.

You assume lithium has rare and limited side effects - that is NOT true. Side effects are the norm - and they can be deadly. Fluoride may affect your IQ level over time - but after a few weeks on lithium you won't know what an IQ is.

whoever decided we needed flouride in our water supply was a crackpot, just like that freak wanting to put lithium in our water...none of that...should even be anywhere near our drinking water, or anything else we consume

I know enough about Lithium to know that what you're describing are more severe symptoms, ones possible only through larger amounts of the drug, not "trace amounts".

The question becomes whether or not the human body "breaks-down" Lithium over time so such doses do not become possible. Fluoride does NOT "break-down", it builds up inside over time hence why it is so dangerous. Does Lithium do something similar?

You say that you know nothing of lithium and then declare it has no effect when taken in low doses because it breaks down over time....how the hey do you know that?

All of these drugs have a half life...

Further - if you exercise and sweat, or take a fever and sweat - or get diarrhoea, then the loss of body fluid will alter the ratio of lithium in your system.

If the drug goes to toxic levels the EXTREME side effects are;

very high blood levels of lithium may cause lithium toxicity and may lead to a coma. You or your carer must seek immediate medical advice if you get any of these symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, blurred vision, light-headedness, sweating, drowsiness, confusion, muscle weakness, tremor, abnormal muscle movements or twitches, passing more urine than normal, urinary or faecal incontinence, restlessness, stupor, convulsions or blackouts

ORDINARY SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDE;

abnormal eye movements
acne
bad taste in the mouth
balance or coordination problems - seek immediate medical advice if you have problems with balance or coordination
blood problems
circulation problems
coma
confusion
convulsions
diabetes insipidus
diarrhoea
dry mouth
ECG changes
extrapyramidal side effects
eye or eyesight problems
feeling dazed
feeling dizzy
hair loss
heart problems
increased blood sugar levels
increased salivation
inflammation of hair follicles
intracranial hypertension - seek medical advice if you develop persistent headache or visual disturbances
itching
kidney problems
loss of appetite
lowered blood pressure
memory problems
metabolic problems
muscle twitching
muscle weakness
myasthenia gravis or myasthenia gravis like conditions
nausea
oedema of the extremities
passing much more urine than usual
psoriasis or worsening of psoriasis
reduced conscious level
reflex problems
sexual dysfunction
skin problems including allergic skin rashes
slower heart rate
speech problems - seek medical advice if you have problems with your speech
stomach discomfort
stupor
taste changes
thirst - seek medical advice if you feel unusually thirsty
thyroid problems such as goitre or thyrotoxicosis
tremors
vertigo
vomiting
weight gain
