With the Mayan calendar once again being in the news thanks to the Facebook meme I thought I would bump this thread. I have seen a lot of false information being repeated in these threads so I thought now would be a good time for a little refresher course on how the Maya constructed their calendars,

So we're less than a month away from the fated date and as expected we're seeing a lot of false claims being made about the Long Count. I figured we could all do with a reminder on the basics of the Long Count and the Mayan calendar system as a whole.
