I've read this somewhere before.... the russians were using air burst bombs to fight rebels hidden in buildings....
Well how effective are they at this?

are you thinking of thermobaric warheads ?

they are VERY effective , but work best in small warheads

sorry had to be more specific they are fuel air explosives (thermobaric) coz some may think of a nuclear device or the MOAB

but hey there r isuues where the fuel isn't properly ignited..... think this was behind the story that the russians used chemical weapons in Chechenya ( spelled correctly?)
