Possible UFO sighting...Sound familiar???

I've been looking around online, but I can't find any pictures. I saw something the other day, and I just want to know if anyone is familiar with an object like this:

I was driving in my car near a large prison... it was day time and not cloudy. I saw, up in the sky an object... It was moving parallel to the ground. It was obviously a "craft" of some sort, but I've never seen anything like it. It resembled an old school telephone receiver (minus the chord), upside down so that the flat part was on bottom and the bulbous ends were up in the air. It was matte black but, as it arced around, it did have a reflective sheen in the middle like metal. I thought maybe it was a helicopter of some sort, but it was fairly close and made no sound whatsoever (also had no blinking lights, rotors, or landing gear of any sort). I was just about to reach a point where I could pull over to snap a photo with my cellphone, and it simply vanished. It did NOT shoot up, or zip across the sky, or fade into clouds... it was just GONE... poof... and I never took my eye off it (but may have blinked). I wish I could have photographed it, but I'm just curious if anyone else has seen anything like it...

Your post interests me, because I live near a large AFB and I keep seeing this light that stays stationary over the gulf, south of the base. I've seen it a few times, It seems to stay there for 20+ minutes. I've ruled out it being a star or planet, as nothing registers on google sky map at the time of seeing it.

I'd take pictures, but currently my cell phone is my only camera, and that wouldn't even be worth using, as all it will appear as is a stationary light. or "chinese lantern"

Thanks... I don't intend on starting many threads, as I rarely have anything all that interesting or not sarcastic to say. This is legit, though. It's a 100% accurate account of a craft I saw that I can't explain. I wish more people would have responded, though, because it really did confuse me.

Nah but seriously that sounds pretty interesting what you saw, I have never heard anything quite like it. Can you draw it or something? How big was it?
