OK, I see the cratered surface of Mercury. I see light and shaded areas, and some spots with artificial colour as is common in astronomical photography. I don't see any technological structures for sure. What am I supposed to see?

What I do find interesting is that when someone posts a pic and says 'look it's a UFO', people just believe them right off the bat. Credulous or what?

Nice theory, but why then in Chad's video from Stereo B (i think), on the opposite side of Mercury, does the object appear on the other side of the planet (with the planet between the flare and the object) ?

This debunks both notions of spaceship and solar flare deflection. Like i said though, if i hadn't seen Chad's vid then i'd too assume a deflection - good theory.

China has a shuttle? News to me!

And a shuttle isn't designed to leave LEO, so it makes absolutely no sense why anyone would bother sending a shuttle out that far...

Anyone care to explain this? :

Everything in the youtube video is moving with respect to the camera (star background, mercury, cme) EXCEPT for the "UFO" in question. It is relatively stationary as far as the camera's lens is concerned. WHY?

You can verify this yourself. Place your mouse pointer on top of the object in question and leave it there, then play the video again. You will notice that its position (2d with respect to the camera) stays relatively permanent while everything else moves - stars, mercury, cme...

So is the camera orientation purposely "anchored" to the "UFO", or the "UFO" purposely decided to move in sync with a camera it knows is pointing at it from millions of miles away, or... the phenomenon has got something to do with the camera's lens?

No matter what this is.......nice footage. Has this ever been captured on camera before (in regards to Mercury)? I am new to ATS, I have been reading from the sidlines for a long time. Thank you all for putting up the mix of opinions, i will form my own.

I always find the comments on these vids as interesting as the vids themselves. There have been a number of explanations put forward. That this blob is an alien mothership is just one of many.

The yt vid in the op reminds me of a familiar event happened near Venus last year:

The Venus impact 07-24--2010, the shape develops close to the ejection and spreads out as it travels. Something like blowing a smoke ring and breaking the ring with your finger. The shape still extends outwardly and gets bigger as it progresses..

If you look into the plume close up, there seems to be a clear indication of a break in the plume as it gets ejected outward, much like something was in the way and broke the edge apart.. The inside of the interruption is a very odd shape it does look very symmetrical in shape, almost like an object was engulfed in the plume.

There's two trains of thoughts here, one is the pragmatic based observational dissection of equipment involved in providing the sensory data (the images) and some orbital dynamics basic background knowledge that leads to the determination that said body cannot be in close proximity of the Planet Mercury and appear that size without perturbing the orbit of Mercury which could easily be calculated, or its a reactive imaging anomaly.

Or...

"Obviously it's cloaked". Well, obviously. It's a flare of light in the path of a coronal mass ejection. Everything else is assumption based on someone's existing belief in extra-terrestrial life living secretly within out solar system.

As for the image, no idea, looks odd....

Or it could be a magnetic tornado caused by the solar flare. Essentially, a large eruption of plasma as the solar flare hits the magnetic field created by the very large iron core of Mercury.

That's my guess anyhow.

Come on.... how the hell ca anyone say what that is? Could be anything.... could be another planet for all we know....

Or it could be a Mothership refuelling and on its way to Earth as described in the Ancient texts of the Mayan!!

This is exactly what happens when people see lights in hte sky. They automatically assume aliens. It's really weird. If you believe what these people say, aliens are even in your toilet. They even saw UFOs at the LHC. So there're subatomic UFOs as well. Aliens are everywhere!

I say it's some kind of camara effect. If it were not, I'd be reading about it on space.com. And even if space.com wouldn't cover it, somebody would. You can't hide something like that.
