Senate approves bill legalizes sodomy and bestiality in US military

Wow, the ignorance in this place truly is astounding. How many people here actually should be under 24hour care?

Both were repealed because both were connected. This was a common tactic to get the bans through in the first place, equating homosexuality to bestiality. It was a right-wing Christian propaganda campaign to do that and discredit and insult wherever possible.

No one is seriously suggesting that soldiers can now screw animals, and to even allude that this is the case shows how completely idiotic and brain dead so many right-wing nut cases are!

I wish I could say that I was surprised, but I'm not.
There are a few groups/clubs that military personnel are in where beastiality (sp?) is acceptable.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some evidence or information that was getting ready to reach the public and lawmakers had to change this law before some high ranking a$$hole was brought up on charges.

Just remember, when you get some sick individuals around alcohol and subjected to taunts from their "buddies", some nasty things happen.

Yeah, it appears to me that the sodomy thing was part of the beastiality bill, so if they wanted to repeal the sodomy part, they'd have to have to repeal the whole piece of legislation. Which makes sense because there should be separate legislation for bestiality.

Is this correct? People are quick to jump on the crazy train before dissecting the issue. When a story sounds to ridiculous to be true, there is usually more to it and spin on it.

You know, after thinking about this a little more, maybe the law is being changed so charges can't be brought against the spouses of government officials. After all, having sex with Dick Cheney, George W., Nancy Pelosi, etc. should be considered bestiality.

The amendment of the UCMJ (not only Article 125) was necessary if the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy is to really be repealed. Now I will admit that it was lazy on the part of the Senate not just to amend Article 125, but rather repeal the whole of it.

But I guarantee that there are plenty of other punitive Articles that can and will be used against Armed Forces members if they engage in sexual intercourse with an animal.

I'm not saying it isn't sick. I just don't see the point in legislating it? There are lots of things I find extremely sick, but to each their own. Personally, I can't stand to see grown men passionately kiss. I don't care if they are homosexual or not, it is just ugly watching grown men kiss each other.

I had a neighbor in college that figured out ways to have sex with just about everything you can find in a grocery store! From watermelons to French Bread! And, he felt it necessary to come and give us all the details each time. He had it down to the specific amounts of water and the correct oven settings to make it as "lifelike" as possible.

I get the human side, but why make it criminal? Does somebody really need to go to jail for having sex with a sheep or a pig?

There is a saying, "stump trained" that is cliche in rural areas. Not that everybody does it, but that everybody knows about it.

I'll tell you what, the young men on cattle farms find out really quick that it isn't as good of an idea as one would think to let the calves go to town on them. Calves get VERY aggressive when they want some milk! I can't find a clip, but there is an hilarious clip in the movie, "The Cowboy Way."

if this is true hmm well, It's pretty typical of American law I guess, it was legal to have sex with animals in the capital of America not long ago, but just when you thought the American government and military couldnt scoop any lower, along comes this..

Until an animal has the ability to say 'yea' or 'nay' (horses would most certainly say 'nay' repeatedly if a man tries to have sex with it), they deserve the same protection we offer children.

Some humans are just simply disgusting creatures. Just because they want to get their rocks off and achieve their instant gratification doesn't mean that they have the right to molest and violate an animal.

Well then, we better stop eating them. They don't volunteer for that. They don't volunteer to be spayed and neutered. They don't volunteer to be captive in little cages while we are at work, or tied out on a chain in the snow.

Why is sex any different?

The lack of logic on the issue of sex, not just this issue, but all issues regarding sex, is immensely baffling to me. I have to think there are not enough people getting enough sex? It seems to carry some magical and mystical spell with it that keeps people from acting rationally?

We don't educate animals like we educate children. We put them to sleep if they are in pain, we make children suffer to the bitter end. We are both more humane, and more cruel to animals than we are children.

Why is sex any different?

You're being ridiculous.

If someone wants to have sex with an animal, then let's make it legal for the animal to be in the dominant position only. At least this way we know that the animal is a willing participant.

One thing that isn't considered here is the mind control and porn industry. Many, many women and children are coerced into bestiality for programming purposes and entertainment for sick individuals. It's a sick practice and anyone who is defending bestiality might as well join a group where it's acceptable. I wish I'd never learned about such groups, but, for some people, pleasing one's sexual urges means anything is a go.

I understand your point,I really do,but when it comes to something so repulsive as sex with an animal then if a law forbidding it stop's even one of these "stump broke" people you speek of from doing such a thing then I have to say a law is needed and hopefully some serious help.

Maybe they think its better for them to be raping the animals instead of the locals. The US is a complete and utter joke, just when you think you couldnt have a lower opinion of it they go and out do themselves. This is just as mental as the Islamic nations jailing rape victims.

First of all, they aren't passing some new bill that says "people will now be able to engage in sex with animals" They are REPEALING an older bill that prohibited such things.

Second of all, the original bill was NOT only about bestiality, it was also about sodomy (oral and anal sex) The fact that the original law makers would sling together bestiality and sodomy is ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with sodomy, adults don't have to explain their choice of sexual methods to anyone, sure as hell not the law.

So, what is actually happening, is that they are removing the restriction on anal and oral sex. That's the point here, the only reason bestiality became involved is because the original law makers combined bestiality and sodomy into one ban. I seriously doubt the bestiality thing had ANYTHING to do with this being repealed.

It's like if I make a law that makes eating cheese sandwiches illegal, but the same bill also made it illegal to poop on your roof.

Some years later, someone comes along and says "hey, cheese sandwiches shouldn't be illegal, lets repeal that law"

Then a bunch of idiots start carrying on about them legalizing roof pooping, Get it? That's exactly what's going on in this thread.

What happen here was that people got so grossed out about a reg in the UCMJ restricting beasteality that the debate just went to that in stead of debating the letter of the bill and why they repealed it for the now openly gay military.

Maybe it really does not mean "animal" but more along the lines of "non-human".

I agree with you entirely here.

There's nothing I dislike more than people who selectively and hypocritically empathise with animals when they feel like it.

In Western society, animals are led away and killed in abattoirs, enslaved in zoos and aquariums, kept in cages as pets, beaten during the course of ''sports'' and used as unwilling participants in horrific and unconscionable scientific experiments.

Why then, is having sex with an animal somehow worse than any other societally accepted examples of animal cruelty which I've listed above ? If anything, having sex with an animal is probably less cruel than just about all of those examples.

The truth of the matter is that bestiality is illegal and frowned upon because of Moral Outrage. Bestiality is illegal, not out of compassion for the animal, but, because of disgust and revulsion at the actions of the perpetrator.

Yet, this same Moral Outrage is felt by those who have objections to homosexual sex, or sodomy.

There doesn't seem to be any kind of logical consistency in most people's ideas of which sexualities or sexual practises are acceptable, and which are not.
